September brings the official arrival of Fall with cooler temperatures, the beginnings of beautiful color and fun things to do throughout Morgan County! Savor the season as you enjoy a visit to one of the area's top fall attractions, dine outdoors, relax at Indiana's only winery, brewery and distillery in one location, or celebrate the changing seasons with a day at the park. Don't forget that the Centerbrook Drive-in remains open on weekends through the fall season! Whatever you choose, don't forget to check the calendar for more upcoming events, as we add them almost daily. Be sure to get the area's Fall Festivals on your calendar and don't miss those signature flavors of Fall!
Here's what's coming up throughout the month of September:
Daily - Downtown Martinsville is Worth the Walk Passport
Pick up a passport, then, go shopping! Any time you make a purchase from a participating business in Downtown Martinsville, you'll get a stamp on your passport. Once you've collected five stamps (must be from five different businesses), simply turn in your card at a listed shop or restaurant, and you’ll be entered to win one of several $50 weekly prizes — and the Grand Prize, worth $500! We'll draw a winner each week. The last day of the promotion will be Small Business Saturday (Nov 29), after which we'll make sure we've collected all the entries and draw for our Grand Prize winner!
Mondays - Pioneer Pathfinders Walk
Meet at Pioneer Park, every Monday for this casual walk around the park. Locals and visitors are all welcome to participate in this public health and fitness initiative. Meet at Shelter #2, walk begins at 9 am.
Tuesdays & Saturdays - Morgan County Farmers Market
Join area growers and crafters at the Farmers Market each week through September. Tuesday Market takes place at the Friends Church in Mooresville from 3 to 7 pm and Saturday Market takes place at The Main Connection in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm. Vendors feature locally grown veggies, eggs, meat and handcrafted items such as jewelry, soaps, candles, woodcrafts and more. There are frequently live music performances during the market as well! Mark your calendar for their Chili Cookoff and Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 27!
Wednesdays - Martinsville in Motion City Walk
All are welcome to participate in this local health and fitness initiative in downtown Martinsville. Enjoy a stroll around the community every Wednesday at Noon. There are three routes with varying distances. Meet up outside of Churches in Mission on Pike Street.
Thursdays - Martinsville Cruise-in
Join the fun with a variety of vintage cars each Thursday evening in Martinsville. Beginning at 5 pm, cars, trucks and other vehicles begin arriving at Martinsville Plaza on Burton Lane for the Martinsville Cruise-in, a weekly event that creates a fun and festive atmosphere for anyone looking for a great place to enjoy a chat with vehicle owners. The new location is within walking distance of Sgt. Pepper's Chicken and several fast food options.
2nd & 4th Thursdays - Eminence Summer Market & Cruise In
The Eminence Community Schools PTO is sponsoring a new Summer Market and Cruise-in event on the second and fourth Thursdays throughout the summer. Stop by between 6 and 8 pm to browse local vendor booths filled with home grown produce, handmade items, baked goods and more, plus indulge in the on site food truck! Be sure to drive your classic car or truck if you have one, and check out all the other cool vehicles in attendance!
Fridays - Taps on the Square
Each and every Friday evening on the courthouse square, watch and listen as American heroes are honored with Taps on the Square. This weekly event has taken place without fail since December, 2012. During the courthouse renovation project, the location of Taps on the Square will shift to the southeast corner of the square near the Morgan County Veterans Memorial at the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets. Names are read beginning at 6:55 pm and live, rolling Taps is sounded at the the seventh bell by the Indiana Spirit of '45 Buglers. This is truly an experience - even those enjoying outdoor dining at area restaurants or walking down the street will pause in respect for this weekly Morgan County tradition.
1st & 3rd Saturdays - Morgantown Farm Market
Stop by the Morgantown Farm Market on the first and third Saturdays of each month (. You'll find them outside the Morgantown First United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Washington and Church Streets. Browse locally grown produce, honey, baked goods and more!
Sept. 3 - Studio PH.D Class: Forging & Forming Skills
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst for these fun classes on how to create beautiful pieces of art you can wear! Studio PhD offers skills classes, make and take classes, and advanced classes (some do require prerequisites). There are typically several classes offered per month, and space is limited, so don't wait! Information on this month's scheduled classes and online registration available at thesterlingbutterfly.com. This class will focus on the skills of forging and forming and is one of the five prerequisites for more advanced courses.
Sept. 4 & 5 - For Bare Feet Sock Sale
Join For Bare Feet for a Community Sock Sale, as they open up their employee-only sales room to the general public! Find high quality socks in a a wide variety of styles and designs. Sale pricing will range from $1.50 per pair to $15 for a dozen pairs. 20% off regular items. Sales will be available on September 4 from Noon to 4 pm, and September 5 from 8 am to noon.
Sept. 4 - RESCHEDULED Free Summer Concert: Cabin Row
Martinsville's downtown performance venue will be rockin' on September 4 with the the rescheduled performance of Cabin Row! This is a free show and all are welcome. Music begins at 7:30 pm. Food trucks and adult beverages available on site. Bring your own seating. Coolers welcome; no outside alcohol.
Sept. 4 - Speaker: History of Mahalasville
On Thursday, September 4, join the Morgan County History Center and Museum for a special presentation on the history of Mahalasville. Located just east of Martinsville, the Mahalasville area has a fascinating history connected to the area's railroad and more!
Sept. 5-7 - Monrovia Festival
The town of Monrovia will present their annual Monrovia Festival on September 5-7. It starts off with the Alma Smock Memorial Art show opening, Vendors and Entertainment Friday evening. Saturday is filled with many events including Cow Patty Bingo, Tractor Drawing, Kiddie Tractor Pull, petting zoo, along with many food and other vendors. Parade begins Sunday at 3 pm.
Sept. 6 - Live Music: Tay Bronson
Black Dog Brewing Company presents the LIVE @ Black Dog Summer Patio Concert Series, every Saturday through October 4! On September 6, they'll welcome Tay Bronson.The patio is open, the beer is cold, the flat bread pizza is hot, and all are welcome! Complete schedule below:
Sept. 6 - Open Mic & Pints
The Main Street Grill in Monrovia invites you to enjoy a monthly Open Mic Night on the First Saturday of each month. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. All musicians, songwriters and singers are welcome to sign up to perform, or just come and enjoy the local talent!
Sept. 6 - BOSS Sprints Heroes and Hornets Race for St. Jude
On September 6, the featured events at Paragon Speedway will be the BOSS Sprints Heroes and Hornets Race for St. Jude. The night will include the following classes: 410 Sprints (BOSS: Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series), Bombers, UMP Super Stocks, and UMP Hornets.
Sept. 7-11 - Porcelain Art School of Indiana
The Porcelain Art School of Indiana returns to the Morgan County Fairgrounds for their 2024 event on Sept. 8-12. This event brings world class instructors and students in porcelain painting to the area from around the country for a week of classes in the art of china painting. Ceramic pieces are fired on site and the public is invited to come observe the classes and see the works created. The best time to visit to see the entire process is Tuesday or Wednesday, but visitors are welcome any time.
Sept. 7 - Live Music: The 78s
Join Cedar Creek Winery & Brew Co for live music from The 78s on Sunday, September 7. This free, all ages show will begin at 2 pm. On site eatery will be open for a late lunch, and locally crafted adult beverages will be available from the winery, brewery and distillery.
Sept. 10 - Speaker: Foxcliff Manor House
On Wednesday, September 10, join the Morgan County History Center and Museum for a special presentation on the history of the Foxcliff Manor House and its connection to local families. Learn about Frank Brown Shields, Arthur Vandenbark and Barbasol and share memories and stories about the families.
Sept. 12 - Open Studios Night & Open Mic Night
Don't miss the Art Sanctuary of Indiana's fun monthly Open Studios Night on September 12. Mingle with nearly two dozen resident artists and learn more about their work and techniques. Enjoy the exhibition of the month upstairs and Open Mic Night downstairs! Studios are open from 6:30-8 pm.
Sept. 12 - Painting Party at the Park
Jimmy Nash Park invites you to join them at 6:30 pm on September 12 for a fun evening of creativity with a painting party! An instructor will be on site to lead you through all aspects of the project; no experience required. All materials included. Participants are welcome to bring non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Please register in advance as space is limited.
Sept. 12 - Silent Disco at The Creek
Join Cedar Creek for another fun Silent Disco event, hosted by Martinsville Rotary Club. Get ready to party on Friday, September 12 from 7 to 10 pm. Grab your tickets ($20 per person), gather your friends, and get ready for some fun! Only 150 headphone sets are available, so get your tickets early.
Sept. 13 - Colonel Vawter Day
Morgantown's annual Colonel Vawter Day celebration is set to take place on Sept. 13. This fun, small town festival kicks off a day full of activities with a 5K Run/Walk. Additional activities include a baking contest, car show, pet parade, art show, vendor booths, historic wagon rides, and more! Don't miss the fun kids zone. Food will be available on site.
Sept. 13 - 7th Annual Adult Spelling Bee
The Morgan County Coalition for Literacy presents their 7th Annual Adult Spelling Bee on Saturday, September 13 at the First Methodist Church in Mooresville (located across from Pioneer Park). Cost to participate is only $25 for a team of two spellers (there is a limit of 10 teams, so register early to participate). The event is FREE for spectators!
Sept. 13 - Bar Mc Rodeo on The Track
Paragon Speedway will partner up with Bar Mc Rodeo and Productions again to bring another exciting rodeo event to Morgan County on September 13! Bring your cowboy hat and boots, because this awesome show is going to get wild, with bull riding, bronc riding, and barrel races! There will be food trucks, the best kettle corn in the state, vendors on site and live music before the action starts at 7 pm.
Sept. 13 - Drink at the Creek: Motor City & Soul Street
It's time for another fun Drink at the Creek Concert at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery in Martinsville! On Saturday, September 13, enjoy the Motown sounds of Motor City and Soul Street! Music begins at 5 pm, Bring your own seating and come prepared for an evening of fun with live music, great food from both Cedar Creek and onsite food trucks. Martinsville High School will host Talentpalooza at the Martinsville High School Auditorium. This is a community wide talent show inviting anyone who has a special talent to share it with the audience. Enjoy an evening of performances featuring students and adults with a variety of talents to share. The finals will be held on September 16 at 7 pm.
Sept. 18 - Silent Book Club
Sara's Goodies will be open late on Sept. 18, for the Silent Book Club, from Fables & Fairy Tales! This new twist on a book club meeting is perfect for those who don't want to discuss a specific book - just bring whatever you're reading! The meeting starts off with some casual conversation, order a snack, drink or dessert, then just sit and enjoy your reading! It's a fun way to meet new friends who also enjoy reading.
Sept. 18 - Girls Night Out
Join Wood & Cotton Co on Main Street in Martinsville for a fun evening event just for the girls! On Thursday, September 18, Girls Night Out will take place from 5 to 8 pm. Sept. 20 - Eminence Harvest Festival
The Eminence Harvest Festival returns on September 20, 2025. Come out and enjoy the day filled with food, vendor booths, a car show, 5K race, an on site magician and of course, the parade! Kiddie area and bounce house is open from 10 am to 4 pm in the fenced area. Food trucks will be open and an onsite DJ will provide music throughout the day.
Sept. 20 - Fall Honey Harvest Celebration
Join Hunter's Honey Farm for a fun, free celebration of this year's honey harvest! There will be hay rides, kids activities, free barn tours and much, much more. Don't miss their special food and drinks available featuring locally-harvested honey.
Sept. 20 - Big Green Egg Cookout
Martinsville's Ace Hardware store will host another Big Green Egg Cookout on Saturday, September 20, from 10:30 am to 2 pm. Stop by for a delicious meal cooked on the Big Green Eggs, with all proceeds going directly to local non-profit organization Stability First.
Sept. 20 - Free Community Harvest Carnival
Spirit of Life Church in Martinsville will host their annual Community Harvest Carnival on Saturday, September 20. There will be free carnival games, food and fun, from 4 to 7 pm. Event takes place at the church on Indiana Street. All are welcome.

Sept. 24 - Morgan in Motion 5K Run/Walk
Join the YMCA of Morgan County for the Morgan in Motion 5K Run/Walk Series on the last Wednesday of each month, April through October. Each month, the run/walk takes place at a different location within the county, featuring parks and camps. This is a free, family-friendly event. Race begins at 6 pm.
Sept. 24 - Tread Trimmers Car Club Cruise In at Culver's
The Tread Trimmers Car Club of Martinsville will host a monthly cruise in event at the Culvers location at the corner of Ohio Street and Prather Drive, Martinsville on the last Wednesday of each month. Stop by from 5 to 8 pm to check out all the cool classic and unique vehicles!
Sept. 25 - Class: Paint & Sip DIY
Join Fables and Fairy Tales for a fun class full of creativity! Martinsville's independent bookstore will host a fun class on September 25 from 6 to 8 pm. Sept. 26 - VFW Post 1257 Steak N Fish Dinner
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1257 in Martinsville hosts a steak n fish dinner on the fourth Friday of each month at their location, 1000 Josephine Street. This monthly event is open to the public and sometimes is followed by live music, from 8 to 10 pm.
Sept. 27 & 28 - Apple Festival & Craft Fair
Join Anderson Orchard in Mooresville for their annual Apple Festival and Craft Show! This is a rain or shine event. The orchard, including concessions, is open from 8 am to 8 pm (or dark, whichever comes first). The crafter tent, featuring 75+ local and regional crafters and artisans is open from 9 am to 5 pm. Pick your own apples or raspberries while you're there!
Sept. 27 & 28 - Old Town Waverly Festival
The annual Old Town Waverly Festival includes demonstrations and reenactments of Backwoodsman, Blacksmithing, weaving, competitions, live music and more. View historical items located in the Waverly Museum which was the Old Town Waverly Bank building or wander and enjoy the antique tractor display and vendor booths. Old Town Waverly Park is a place to re-connect with nature and history. Stop by on Saturday, from 9 am to 6 pm or Sunday, from 10:30 am to 4 pm.
Sept. 27 - Drink at the Creek - Boy Band Review & The Divas
