September brings the arrival of Fall with cooler temperatures, the beginnings of beautiful color and tons of fun festivals and special events throughout Morgan County! Savor the season as you enjoy a visit to one of the area's top fall attractions, dine outdoors, relax at Indiana's only winery, brewery and distillery in one location, or celebrate the changing seasons with a day at the park. Whatever you choose, don't forget to check the calendar for upcoming festivals and special events. Here's what's coming up throughout the month of September:
Morgan County Farmers Market
This is your last month to enjoy a visit to the Morgan County Farmers Market for fresh, locally grown veggies, fruit, meat, eggs, fresh baked goods and a variety of handcrafted items. Stop by for Tuesday Market in Mooresville from 3-6 pm or Saturday Market in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm.
95th Annual Paragon Homecoming Festival
Kick off September with the 95th Annual Paragon Homecoming Festival on Labor Day Weekend. This small town tradition features live music, food vendors, carnival rides, games, activities and more! This year's music line up includes the Herb and Jack Show, Jim Hayden and The Cowboy Playboys and the Main Street Band.
Live Music: Frank Bradford
Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery will welcome musician Frank Bradford to the stage as part of their Sunday afternoon music series. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Music begins at 2 pm.
Family Movie Night: Space Jam
Join the Barbara B Jordan YMCA and the Morgan County Public Library for a fun Family Movie Night featuring Space Jam, starring Michael Jordan. There will be refreshments available on site. Movie begins at 8 pm on Sept. 6.
Monrovia welcomes you on Sept. 6-8 for their annual Monrovia Festival! Enjoy lots of great food, live music, games, vendor booths, and so much more. Don't forget about the parade, which takes place on Sunday at 3 pm.
Join Fancy Plants for their first Modern Market event on Sept. 7 from 9 am to 2 pm. This farmers market style event will feature some of their own favorite local artisans, businesses and restaurants. Participants will offer up some of their best selling products.
Live music: Mallets & Skins
Join Holy Smoke Hog Roast Company in downtown Martinsville for an evening of music from Mallets & Skins on their outdoor patio. Music begins at 6 pm on Saturday, September 7. All ages are welcome, as well as music-loving pups with well-behaved owners.
Live Music: Two for the Show at Bicentennial Park
Mooresville's Summer Concert Series at Bicentennial Park continues through the month of September! On Sept 7, join them for a free performance from Two for the Show. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy the evening in Downtown Mooresville! Music starts at 7 pm.
Link Observatory Space Science Institute Programs
Join the experts from this NASA affiliated space science institute for three monthly programs perfect for anyone who'd like to learn more about space. On the first Saturday of the month (Sept. 7), Link Observatory hosts Open Observation hours beginning at 8:30 pm. On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Observatory is open during daylight hours for you to explore.
Porcelain Art School of Indiana
This unique event is celebrating their second year in Morgan County! Bringing renowned porcelain art instructors from around the world together with students from around the country, the Porcelain Art School of Indiana will take place at the Morgan County Fairgrounds on Sept. 8-12. As part of the school, the public is welcome to come observe this creative process.
2nd Friday Open Studios Night
Don't miss the Art Sanctuary of Indiana's fun monthly Open Studios Night on Sept. 13. Mingle with nearly two dozen resident artists and learn more about their work and techniques. Enjoy the exhibition of the month upstairs and Open Mic Night downstairs! Studios are open from 6-9 pm.
Join the Martinsville Rotary Club for this fun event on Sept. 13 at The Brickhouse on Main. Not sure what a Silent Disco is? It's a dance party! Choose from three dance music channels on your headset and show off your dance moves. Cash bar and refreshments included.
The Miracle Worker
The Merry MAC Players, Martinsville's community theatre company, presents The Miracle Worker, September 13- 22 at the historic Depot Theatre. The production tells the true story of 6-year-old Helen Keller, blind, deaf and mute from infancy, and her "miracle worker" teacher Annie Sullivan.
Eminence Harvest Festival
Come out for this fun small town celebration. Eminence welcomes one and all on Sept. 14 for their annual Harvest Festival. This year's event features a 5K run/walk, a baking contest, craft vendors, garden tractor pulls, a tractor and car show and more - even a parade!
Colonel Vawter Day
Morgantown invites you to join them for the annual Colonel Vawter Day on Sept. 14! This annual small town festival celebrates one of the community's early residents and always features lots of great food, vendor booths, fun activities, a car show, live performances and of course a parade.
Live Music: Mr. Speed & Jam Box
On Sept. 14, Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery will welcome Mr. Speed and Jam Box for another fun Drink at the Creek Concert! The setting is beautiful, the music will be rockin' and the beverages are always tasty. All ages are welcome.
Live Music: CPR Revival
Join Ralph and Ava's Public House in downtown Mooresville for some live music from CPR Revival on Saturday, Sept. 14. If you haven't checked out their new menu yet, it's worth the visit!
Mallow Run Pairing Dinner
Join Chef Matt at 21 North Eatery & Cellar for another fantastic pairing dinner on Sept, 17, this time featuring beverages from Mallow Run Winery. These events do sell out, so be sure to reserve your space early! Participants will enjoy a multiple course dinner created to complement Indiana-crafted beverages.
Corks & Forks
Come out to Cedar Creek Winery on Sept. 19 for this fun event for a good cause. A fundraiser for WellSpring, a local charitable organization, Corks & Forks will feature a live auction, live music from Bigg Country, and of course food and wine available on site. Cost is only $10 per person.
Brooklyn Fire Department Fish Fry & Vendor Fair
Join the town of Brooklyn for this annual small town fish fry and vendor fair event on Saturday, Sept. 21. The Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department hosts the family-friendly event from 11 am to 7 pm as a fundraiser.
Hunter's Honey Farm Fall Harvest Celebration
Once the honey harvest is complete, Hunter's Honey Farm invites the public in to help them celebrate with their annual Fall Harvest Celebration on Sept. 21. The event always features honey-themed concessions, free tours of the honey barn, pony rides, vendor booths, kids activities and more.
Home Sweet Hope 5K
The Morgan County Division of MIBOR presents the Home Sweet Hope 5k Walk/Run on Sept. 21 at beautiful Bradford Woods! Come out and enjoy a gorgeous fall day in the woods. Route is both paved and natural surface trails. Proceeds benefit area charities.

Bicentennial Park Concert: F.U.N.
A late addition to the Bicentennial Park Concert Series line-up, the band F.U.N. will perform on Sunday. September 22. Music starts at 5 pm; bring your lawn chairs or blankets!
YMCA Fun Run: Jimmy Nash Park
Join the Barbara B Jordan YMCA for another free family fun run/walk event, this time at Jimmy Nash Park in Martinsville. Here's your chance to explore the beautiful park with a relaxed, no-pressure (and no cost) 5K fun run! Starts at 6 pm on Sept. 25.
Chili Cookoff & Chalk Art Contest
The Martinsville Chamber of Commerce hosts their annual Chili Cookoff and Chalk Art Contest at The Main Connection on Sept. 28. Attendees are welcome to taste chili from more than a dozen teams and vote for people's choice! All ages are encouraged to participate in the chalk art contest portion of the event as well. Prizes are awarded by age group.
Mooresville Arts Car, Truck & Bike Show
On Sept. 28, come out to see the beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles on display at the annual Car, Truck and Bike Show held on the grounds of the Mooresville Arts Partnership. This show is free for spectators and there will be food on site as well as kids activities, a silent auction and live music.
Eggfest at Cedar Creek
Martinsville's locally-owned Ace Hardware store presents Eggfest at Cedar Creek Winery. This fun event is all about the big green egg... and all the amazing things that can be cooked with them! See it for yourself from 3 to 7 pm on Sept. 28.
Waverly Park Festival
Morgan County Parks and Recreation once again presents the two day Waverly Park Festival on Sept. 28-29. This event features live music performances, historic reenactors, a variety of craft vendors, kids activities and live blacksmith and tinsmith demonstrations! Be sure to try your hand at tomahawk throwing while you're there.
Apple Festival & Craft Fair
Anderson Orchard's annual Apple Festival and Craft Fair will take place Sept 28-29. This fun annual event features more than 50 craft vendors, as well as live music and all the fun of a visit to the orchard. Be sure to enjoy the concessions stand while you're there - we recommend a cider slush!
Live Music: Chicken Bone Acoustic
Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery will welcome Chicken Bone Acoustic for a live performance. Part of their free Sunday afternoon music series, this is a free show and all ages are welcome. Music begins at 2 pm.
