Downtown Mooresville is getting a face lift!

The historic streets of downtown Mooresville are getting a new look! As part of the ongoing Main in Motion project, there will be some traffic pattern changes in the downtown area. No one enjoys a construction zone, but this should be a relatively minor situation for those seeking to visit the Downtown Mooresville district for shopping, dining and entertainment. So, here's the scoop on exactly what's happening,  plus a few fun ways to participate in supporting the many locally owned businesses that are located within the construction area. Traffic Pattern Changes

Currently, construction is underway on the west end of Main Street, near the intersection of Monroe Street (Old State Road 267) and Main Street. The project will move east as work is mostly completed, opening up as they go. That means any detour should be a maximum of one or two blocks at a time, making it easy to navigate for both residents and visitors. Mooresville offers several convenient parking areas downtown on or near Main Street. Here's an interactive parking map created by Banning Engineering to help you choose your best parking option, depending on which businesses you're planning to visit (Note: map works best on a computer rather than a phone).

Downtown Businesses Need Your Support

Throughout the duration of this project, Downtown Mooresville Business Alliance, Mooresville Chamber of Commerce, Citizens Bank, and Visit Morgan County are partnering together to encourage residents and visitors alike to continue to support our locally owned downtown businesses in the area affected, because we know those businesses are definitely worth the extra effort! In fact, even with the Main Street construction, we're willing to bet that many times you'll end up walking a shorter distance to support a local shop or restaurant that you would by shopping a big box store! So, to encourage you to shop local over the next few months, we're launching a fun downtown Mooresville passport program!

Here's how it works - pick up a passport at any participating downtown business. Then, go shopping! It's really that simple - any time you make a purchase downtown from a participating business, you'll get a stamp on your passport. Once you've filled five spaces on your card (must be from five different businesses), simply turn in your card at any listed shop or restaurant, and you’ll be entered to win one of several great prizes! Winners will be drawn each week throughout the project.

The best part? You can enter again and again, giving you more chances to win! Just grab a new passport card, collect five more stamps and play again! To be valid, each entry must have stamps from five separate businesses.

Additional Ways to Support Local in Downtown Mooresville

Attend First Fridays!
Beginning in May, Mooresville's downtown business owners are launching First Fridays! On the first Friday of each month, several area businesses will offer fun special offers, activities, and extended hours to encourage shoppers to come browse Downtown Mooresville. Stay tuned for more information on what's happening each month.

Purchase Downtown Mooresville T-shirts:
Purchase a new Downtown Mooresville t-shirt to directly support Downtown Mooresville Business Alliance efforts to promote Mooresville during the Main in Motion construction period! Pick one up at a downtown retail outlet, or go straight to the source at Tri County Sports Shop. A portion of proceeds from each shirt goes to the Main in Motion promotion fund.

Attend Mooresville Street Fairs:
Yes, Mooresville Street Fairs will continue during the Main in Motion project, but they may look a little bit different. On June 13 and July 11, head for Downtown Mooresville to enjoy these fun outdoor events. There will be vendor booths, music, fun and games, special activities and events at downtown businesses and more! Now, for the changes - obviously, we won't be closing down any streets this year for the Street Fairs, but we are dedicating the two parking lots located just east of Buffalo Gal Antiques between Main Street and Harrison Street to vendor booths, etc. All other town parking lots will be available for convenient parking during the events.
