The White River flows southward just east of the town, with a public access area available at the bridge on Paragon Road.
Known For:
Founded in the early 1850's with 16 original families, Paragon's most popular attraction opened about a hundred years later in the early 1950s. Paragon Speedway has been home to dirt track racing and has played in integral part in the development of several successful drivers. The area surrounding Paragon is a mix of agricultural fields and forest, making for beautiful scenic drives. The town hosts a Paragon Homecoming Celebration each year on Labor Day Weekend, which began in 1922 to celebrate both current and past residents.
Must See Spots:
Paragon Speedway
Founded in 1954, Paragon Speedway has been a staple of dirt track racing in Indiana for decades. Still going strong, the Speedway hosts regular Saturday night racing events and continues to offer free admission for kids age 10 and under with a paid adult admission for regular schedule events.
Burkhart Creek Park/Ravinia State Forest
Morgan County's only Nature Park, Burkhart Creek Park is located at the intersection of Duckworth and Warthen Roads, just north of Paragon. The park features paved, gravel and natural surface trails, picnic shelters, and creek access. The wetlands area comes alive in the spring with the sounds of peeper frogs and the natural prairie areas provide colorful blooms throughout the summer into fall. Across the road, you'll find one of Indiana's newest State Forests - Ravinia State Forest, a 1,500 acre, heavily wooded parcel which is a planting area for Indiana's ForestIN Program - an effort to plant a million new trees by 2025.
