As summer begins to draw to a close, there's still plenty of fun to be found in Morgan County! Schools are starting to be back in session, but we've still got about a month of summer left, so don't forget to take some time out of your family's hectic schedule to explore the outdoors, enjoy local dining options and more. The Farmers' Market is still going strong with a plethora of locally grown produce and handcrafted items. Lots of live music options are still on the calendar for August and as always, we'll be adding new events to the event calendar all month long! 
 

Mondays - Pioneer Pathfinders Walk
Meet at Pioneer Park, every Monday for this casual walk around the park. Locals and visitors are all welcome to participate in this public health and fitness initiative. Meet at Shelter #2, walk begins at 9 am. 

Tuesdays & Saturdays - Morgan County Farmers Market
The first week of August is National Farmers Market Week! Join area growers and crafters at the Farmers Market each week through September. Tuesday Market takes place at the Friends Church in Mooresville from 3 to 7 pm and Saturday Market takes place at The Main Connection in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm. Vendors feature locally grown veggies, eggs, meat and handcrafted items such as jewelry, soaps, candles, woodcrafts and more. There are frequently live music performances during the market as well! 

Wednesdays - Martinsville in Motion City Walk
All are welcome to participate in this local health and fitness initiative in downtown Martinsville. Enjoy a stroll around the community every Wednesday at Noon. There are three routes with varying distances. Meet up outside of Churches in Mission on Pike Street. 

Thursdays - Martinsville Cruise-in 
Join the fun with a variety of vintage cars each Thursday evening in Martinsville. Beginning at 5 pm, cars, trucks and other vehicles begin arriving at Martinsville Plaza on Burton Lane for the Martinsville Cruise-in, a weekly event that creates a fun and festive atmosphere for anyone looking for a great place to enjoy a chat with vehicle owners. The new location is within walking distance of Sgt. Pepper's Chicken and several fast food options. 

2nd & 4th Thursdays - Eminence Summer Market & Cruise In
The Eminence Community Schools PTO is sponsoring a new Summer Market and Cruise-in event on the second and fourth Thursdays throughout the summer. Stop by between 6 and 8 pm to browse local vendor booths filled with home grown produce, handmade items, baked goods and more, plus indulge in the on site food truck! Be sure to drive your classic car or truck if you have one, and check out all the other cool vehicles in attendance! 

Fridays - Taps on the Square
Each and every Friday evening on the courthouse square, watch and listen as American heroes are honored with Taps on the Square. This weekly event has taken place without fail since December, 2012. During the courthouse renovation project, the location of Taps on the Square will shift to the southeast corner of the square near the Morgan County Veterans Memorial at the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets. Names are read beginning at 6:55 pm and live, rolling Taps is sounded at the the seventh bell by the Indiana Spirit of '45 Buglers. This is truly an experience - even those enjoying outdoor dining at area restaurants or walking down the street will pause in respect for this weekly Morgan County tradition.  

1st, 3rd, & 5th Saturdays - Morgantown Farm Market
Stop by the Morgantown Farm Market on the first and third Saturdays of each month. You'll find them outside the Morgantown First United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Washington and Church Streets. Browse locally grown produce, honey, baked goods and more! 

Aug. 1-3 - Mooresville Old Settlers Fair
The Old Settlers Fair is an iconic Mooresville festival that takes place this year on July 31-August 3. The festival runs Thursday-Sunday, making it easy for you to come enjoy an end of summer celebration around back-to-school activities! You'll find carnival rides, games, community booths, great food and live entertainment at Pioneer Park. The carnival is open 5 to 10 pm Thursday through Saturday and 1 to 10 pm on Sunday after the parade. The Old Settlers Parade will be Sunday at 2 pm. Stop by for a lemon shake up and enjoy one of last big festivals of summer in Morgan County. Admission to the festival is free.

Aug. 1 - FREE Summer Concert: Tastes Like Chicken
Martinsville's downtown performance venue will be rockin' on August 1 with the sounds of regional favorites Tastes Like Chicken! This is a free show and all are welcome. Music begins at 7:30 pm. Food trucks and adult beverages available on site. Bring your own seating. Coolers welcome; no outside alcohol.  

Aug. 2 - Flag Town 5K & 10K Run/Walk
This fun running event has quickly become a local tradition in Mooresville. The Flag Town 5K is an un-timed race takes place during the Old Settlers Fair opens at Pioneer Park. Registration is available online or on site. Participants will receive a commemorative Flag Town t-shirt, finisher medal and swag bag. The course is paved; packet pickup begins at 7 am at Shelter 7; race starts at 8 am.  

Aug. 2 - VFW Post 1257 Community Yard Sale
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1257 in Martinsville will host an indoor/outdoor community yard sale on Saturday, August 2. Stop by to browse, or bring your own items to sell! Tables will be available to rent inside the building for $25 each. 

Aug. 2 - Live Music: Brian Babbs
Black Dog Brewing Company presents the LIVE @ Black Dog Summer Patio Concert Series, every Saturday through October 4. The patio is open, the beer is cold, the flat bread pizza is hot, and all are welcome! Beginning at 7 pm, Brian Babbs will perform on August 2. 

Aug. 2 - Open Mic & Pints
The Main Street Grill in Monrovia invites you to enjoy a monthly Open Mic Night on the First Saturday of each month. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. All musicians, songwriters and singers are welcome to sign up to perform, or just come and enjoy the local talent!

Aug. 3 - Mooresville Masonic Lodge Car Show & Fish Fry
Stop by the Mooresville Masonic Lodge on Saturday, Aug. 2 for a car show and fish fry. Car registration begins at 8 am and the fish fry begins serving at 11:30 am. Car show awards are given in several categories and all types of vehicles are welcome (even kids' cars!). The Mooresville Masonic Lodge is right across from Pioneer Park on Indianapolis Road. The Fish Fry is a two-day event that continues on Aug. 3! 

Aug. 3 - Back to School Community Party
Spirit of Life Church will host a Back to School Community Party at Jimmy Nash Park on Sunday, August 3 beginning at 4:30 pm. Come join the fun with free food from 4:30 to 6 pm, swimming from 6 to 8 pm, ice cream, baptisms and more. Meet at the tent by the pool at Jimmy Nash Park.  

Aug. 6 - Studio PH.D Class: Sawing & Piercing Skills
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst for a Sawing and Piercing Skills class! This class is one of several prerequisites for more advanced courses. Class will meet at the Sterling Butterfly on Morgan Street, on August 6, beginning at 6 pm. In this class you will learn how to plan out a piece to saw, how to pierce out the inside of it and how to finish it. You will leave with a piece that can be a pendant. Class size is limited, so register early.

Aug. 8 - Open Studios Night & Morgan County Veterans Creative Arts Festival
Browse the open artist studios at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana on Friday, August 8, beginning at 6 pm. The featured exhibition this month will be the Veterans Creative Arts Festival, which is an annual event organized by the American Legion Post 230 Auxiliary to celebrate the creative works of veterans and their children. 

Aug. 8-10 - Indiana Summer Bash
Head for Pioneer Park, August 9-10 for a community celebration packed with food, fun, music, and memories for the whole family! Hosted by the First Response Wellness Foundation, this event brings everyone together to support our first responders while enjoying the best of summer. There will be live music food trucks, 100+ vendors, a touch-a-truck opportunity for the littles and more! This is a free event. 

Aug. 9-10 - Studio PH.D Class: Jewelry Skills Intensive
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst for this Basic Jewelry Skills Intensive workshop! Class will meet at the Sterling Butterfly on Morgan Street, on August 9 and 10,beginning at 9 am. Participants in this two-day intensive class will learn many of the basic skills of jewelry making. This will encompass the 4 classes that will be pre-requisites for future advanced classes. All materials, necessary tools and instruction is included in the class fee. Class size is limited, so register early!

Aug. 9 - End of Summer Bash
Jimmy Nash City Park invites you to come celebrate with them at a special End of Summer Bash! Beginning at 2 pm on Saturday, Aug, 9, come enjoy this free event featuring a fun foam machine, inflatable slide, bounce house and more! 

Aug. 9 - Drink at the Creek: Vegas McGraw & The Ultimate Garth
Cedar Creek WineryBrew Co & Distillery will host another Drink at the Creek Concert on Saturday, August 9, featuring the music of the Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, courtesy of Vegas McGraw and The Ultimate Garth. Music begins at 5 pm. Bring your own seating. Picnics are welcome, but coolers must be 12"x15" or smaller. No outside alcohol. Food trucks on site, plus the Cedar Creek Eatery will be open as well. Get tickets in advance online, or at the gate.  

Aug. 9, 16, & 23 - Dirt Track Racing
Paragon Speedway will host all the fun of dirt track racing on five evenings this month! Join them on most Saturdays - and a Friday - for traditional dirt track oval racing on the historic track that's been a Morgan County staple since the early 1950s! Racing typically begins at 6 pm. Check our calendar for each night's features. 

Aug. 9 - Live Music: Kevin Jones
Black Dog Brewing Company presents the LIVE @ Black Dog Summer Patio Concert Series, every Saturday through October 4. The patio is open, the beer is cold, the flat bread pizza is hot, and all are welcome! Beginning at 7 pm, Kevin Jones will perform on August 9. 

Aug. 15 - A&A Townships VFD Fish Fry & More
Head for the tiny town of Eminence on August 16 and 17 for the A&A Townships Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry and more! Bring your own seating and be ready for two evenings of live music. This fun two-day event includes food vendors, a silent auction, live music, tractor pulls and more. 

Aug. 16 - Live Music at WIllowfield Lavender Farm
Join Willowfield Lavender Farm for live music on August 16, beginning at 5 pm. Featured performers will be The Wilsons, and Mallow Run Winery will be on site with tasting and sales, plus signature lavender tea and cookies will be available from the lavender farm! This season is Willowfield's 25th Anniversary, so pack a picnic and make a plan to visit for some live music in a beautiful and fragrant setting! 

Aug. 16 - Live Music: Sisters Brew
Black Dog Brewing Company presents the LIVE @ Black Dog Summer Patio Concert Series, every Saturday through October 4. The patio is open, the beer is cold, the flat bread pizza is hot, and all are welcome! Beginning at 7 pm, Sisters Brew will perform on August 16. 

Aug. 16 - Open Mic & Pints

Bring your own seating. Picnics are welcome, but coolers must be 12"x15" or smaller. No outside alcohol. Food trucks on site, plus the Cedar Creek Eatery will be open as well. Get tickets in advance online, or at the gate.  

Aug. 20 - Studio PH.D Make & Take Class: Textured Bezel Set Earrings
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst for a Make & Take class featuring textured bezel set earrings! Class will meet at the Sterling Butterfly on Morgan Street, on August 20, beginning at 6 pm. In this class you will learn how to design and create your own pair of earrings. No experience necessary, all materials, necessary tools and instruction is included in the class fee. Class size is limited, so register early. 

Aug. 21 - RESCHEDULED FREE Summer Concert: Karma
Enjoy a special live music event in Mooresville, originally scheduled for Friday, May 16 with Karma, now reschedule for August 21 at Pioneer Park!  Attendees will enjoy live music beginning at 7 pm.  Bring your own seating; food and beverage vendors will be on site, including beer and wine. All ages welcome! 

Aug. 22 - VFW Post 1257 Steak N Fish Dinner & Live Music: Rose O'Neal
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1257 in Martinsville hosts a steak n fish dinner on the fourth Friday of each month at their location, 1000 Josephine Street. Meal choices are steak, baked potato, and salad for $20 per plate or fish, fries, and cole slaw for $15 per plate. This monthly event is open to the public and sometimes is followed by live music - this month, local favorite Rose O'Neal will perorm beginning at 8 pm.

Aug. 23 - Live Music: Derek Chastain
Black Dog Brewing Company presents the LIVE @ Black Dog Summer Patio Concert Series, every Saturday through October 4. The patio is open, the beer is cold, the flat bread pizza is hot, and all are welcome! Beginning at 7 pm, Derek Chastain will perform on August 23. 

Aug. 27 - Studio PH.D Class: Twisted Links Chain Making Session
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst for this monthly Chain Making Session! August's session will feature Twisted Links. Class will meet at the Sterling Butterfly on Morgan Street, on August 27, beginning at 6 pm. This session has no prerequisites and no soldering or fusing is required. All materials, necessary tools and instruction is included in the class fee. Class size is limited to register early!

Aug. 27 - Tread Trimmers Car Club Cruise-in at Culver's
The Tread Trimmers Car Club of Martinsville will host a monthly cruise in event at the Culvers location at the corner of Ohio Street and Prather Drive, Martinsville on the last Wednesday of each month. Stop by from 5 to 8 pm to check out all the cool classic and unique vehicles! 

Aug. 27 - Morgan in Motion FREE 5K
Join the YMCA of Morgan County for the Morgan in Motion 5K Run/Walk Series on the last Wednesday of each month, April through October. Each month, the run/walk takes place at a different location within the county, featuring parks and camps. This is a free, family-friendly event. Race begins at 6 pm. This month's location is Pioneer Park in Mooresville.

Aug. 29-31 - 101st Annual Paragon Homecoming Festival
The Paragon Homecoming Festival will take place Aug. 29 through 31. Come enjoy a weekend full of small town fun, great food, vendor booths, live entertainment and more! Featured this year, the Queen City Stunt Circus will perform on Saturday and Sunday with FREE shows at 2pm and 4 pm. Live music will feature Ellie Grayce, Hairbangers Ball, Evyn Ingle, Austin James, Pure Country, Fishers of Men and Main Street Band! 

Aug. 30 - Drink at the Creek: Henry Lee Summer, Mellencougar & Crush
This Labor Day Weekend installment of the Drink at the Creek Concert Series will feature not two, but three great acts! Please note the earlier start time - music will begin at 4 pm. Featured performers will be Henry Lee Summer, Mellencougar, and Crush (Bon Jovi tribute). Food and beverages will be available on site. Bring your own seating. All ages welcome. Coolers welcome (12"x15" or smaller); no outside alcohol. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of show; available online at rdproductionsllc.com or in person at Cedar Creek Winery.

Aug. 30 - Live Music: Kris Garner

Cedar Creek Winery & Brewery presents live music from Phil Pierle on Sunday, August 31. Indulge in your favorite locally-crafted beverages and don't forget about their amazing eatery menu as well! This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. Music starts at 2 pm.
