As summer begins to draw to a close, there's still plenty of fun to be found in Morgan County! Explore the outdoors, enjoy local dining options and don't forget about upcoming events this month. Farmers' Market is still going strong with a plethora of locally grown produce and handcrafted items. Lots of live music options are on the calendar for August and as always, we'll be adding new events to the event calendar all month long! 
 

Tuesdays & Saturdays - Morgan County Farmers Market
The first week of August is National Farmers Market Week! Join area growers and crafters at the Farmers Market each week through September. Tuesday Market takes place at the Friends Church in Mooresville from 3 to 7 pm and Saturday Market takes place at The Main Connection in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm. Vendors feature locally grown veggies, eggs, meat and handcrafted items such as jewelry, soaps, candles, woodcrafts and more. There are frequently live music performances during the market as well! 

Thursdays - Cruise-in on the Square
Join the fun with a variety of vintage cars each Thursday evening in downtown Martinsville. Beginning at 5 pm, cars, trucks and other vehicles begin arriving at the courthouse square for Cruise-in on the Square, a weekly event that creates a fun and festive atmosphere for anyone looking for a great place to enjoy dinner, shopping and a stroll around the square with a unique backdrop. Talk with vehicle owners and enjoy a relaxed evening downtown.

Thursdays - Music Bingo at Black Dog Brewing Company
Thursdays mean a fun night of Music Bingo at Black Dog Brewing Company! Grab your friends and get ready to highlight your musical knowledge in the quest for fun and fun prizes! Music bingo takes place beginning at 6 pm every Thursday with DJ Love. Great locally brewed beer and other beverages are available nightly. 

Fridays - Taps on the Square
Each and every Friday evening on the courthouse square, watch and listen as American heroes are honored with Taps on the Square. This weekly event has taken place without fail since December, 2012. Names are read beginning at 6:55 pm and live, rolling Taps is sounded at the the seventh bell by the Indiana Spirit of '45 Buglers. This is truly an experience - even those enjoying outdoor dining at area restaurants or walking down the street will pause in respect for this weekly Morgan County tradition.  

Aug. 1-6 - Morgan County Fair
The Morgan County Fair continues through August 7. You'll enjoy carnival rides, games, merchant booths, 4-H exhibits and much more. Don't miss the local food vendors featuring everything from roasted corn to homemade recipe soft serve ice cream. There are daily performances on the Free Stage and lots of fun special events at the Grandstand including ATV races, wrestling, circus performers and two nights of demolition derby! Get more schedule details on our See you at the Fair blog post. 

Aug. 6 - Team Chad Beer Release
Join Cedar Creek Brew Co for a very special fundraiser and beer release on Aug. 6. The 3rd Annual Team Chad Day will take place beginning at 2 pm with a release of Team Chad APA. Proceeds go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. 

Aug. 6 - Flag Town 5K & 10 K Run/Walk
This fun running event has quickly become a local tradition prior to the annual Old Settlers Fair in Mooresville. The Flag Town 5K race takes place the day before the Old Settlers Fair opens at Pioneer Park. Registration is available online or on site. Participants will receive a commemorative Flag Town t-shirt, finisher medal and swag bag. The course is paved; packet pickup begins at 7 am at Shelter 7; race starts at 8 pm.  

Aug. 6 - Mooresville Masonic Lodge Car Show & Fish Fry 
Stop by the Mooresville Masonic Lodge on Saturday, Aug. 6 for a car show and fish fry. Car registration begins at 8 am and the fish fry begins serving at 11:30 am. Car show awards are given in several categories and all types of vehicles are welcome (even kids' cars!). The Mooresville Masonic Lodge is right across from Pioneer Park on Indianapolis Road. The Fish Fry is a two-day event that continues on Aug. 7! 

Aug. 6 - Nine & Dine
Love golf and good food? Join The Links at Heartland Crossing on Saturday, Aug. 6 for a fun couples event. Take date night up a notch and enjoy nine holes of golf plus a full-course dinner at beautiful Heartland Crossing with Nine and Dine, beginning at 6 pm.. Aug. 6 - Dirt Track Racing at Paragon Speedway
Enjoy the action on the dirt track oval with racing on August 6 with the Tony Stewart All Star Series of Champions TQ Midgets. A Morgan County tradition for generations, Paragon Speedway's fast paced dirt oval provides lots of thrills and excitement for all ages. As always, kids are free with a paid adult admission. Check the calendar for each date to verify ticket price and the types of cars that will be on the track that night.

Aug. 6 - Drink at the Creek: Earth to Mars & Soul Street
This month's installments of the Drink at the Creek Concert Series will kick off on August 6 with the music of Bruno Mars, as performed by tribute band Earth to Mars. Music will begin at 5 pm with regional favorites Soul Street. Food and beverages will be available on site. Bring your own seating. All ages welcome. Coolers welcome; no outside alcohol. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of show; available online at rdproductionsllc.com or in person at Cedar Creek Winery.

Aug. 7 - Live Music: The 78's
Popular duo The 78's will perform at Cedar Creek Winery on Aug. 7, from 3-6 pm. Come enjoy a fun, casual concert in a beautiful setting. The on-site eatery will be open as well. This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. 

Aug. 7-9 - Mooresville Old Settlers Fair
The Old Settlers Fair is an iconic Mooresville festival takes place August 8-10, kicking off with a parade on Sunday beginning at 2 pm. After the parade, you'll find carnival rides, games, community booths, great food and live entertainment at Pioneer Park. Stop by for a lemon shake up and enjoy one of last big festivals of summer in Morgan County. Admission to the festival is free.

Aug. 12 & 13 - Smoke at The Creek Boutique Cigar Festival
You know Cedar Creek for their winery, brewery and distillery, and as an outdoor music venue, but do you know about Cedar Creek Cigars? They'll host the 2nd Annual Cedar Creek Smoke at the Creek Boutique Cigar Festival on August 12 and 13. You'll discover new boutique brands from the variety of vendors on site, plus enjoy live music, several food trucks and more. Tickets are available online

Aug. 12 - 2nd Friday Open Studios Night
Come out to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana in Martinsville on Friday, August 13 for their monthly Open Studios Night from 6 to 8 pm. Stop in and chat with nearly two dozen resident artists, see their work and explore their studio space before or after enjoying dinner at a downtown eatery.

Join Pam Hurst of Pam Hurst Designs for a fun beaded bracelet workshop on Aug. 17. Aug. 18 - 3rd Thursday on the Square: Sip Shop & Stroll
Join the downtown merchants of Martinsville for a fun monthly event. Shop the square (and beyond) to discover unique treasures at a variety of shops, as well as dinner at your favorite downtown eatery. On the 3rd Thursday of each month, shops stay open late and there are often additional specials or other events. This month's event will be August 18 with a theme of Sip Shop & Stroll.

Aug. 19 & 20 - A&A VFD Free Stage
Head for the tiny town of Eminence on August 19 and 20 for the A&A Townships Volunteer Fire Department Free Stage! Bring your own seating and be ready for two evenings of live music. On Friday, music begins at 7:30 pm with Cord Watkins and MLE Band. On Friday, Terry Lee Ridley and his Killer Band take the stage at 7:30 pm. Food will be available on site. Sponsored by the Eminence Lions Club.

This Drink at the Creek Concert Series event was rescheduled due to illness and will now take place on Aug. 21, beginning at 4 pm (take note - this is a different start time than normal).
