14th Annual Fall Festival & Corn Maze
Join Greendell Landscape Solutions for their Annual Fall Festival! This year's corn maze theme is Indiana Trivia. If you have older kids, don't miss the opportunity to explore the maze by moonlight on October 26 & 27 from 7 to 11 pm! The Patch & Play area features a four acre pumpkin patch, straw pyramid, tire climb, corn hole, checkers, tic-tac-toe, football toss, sack races, tetherball and more! Get $1 off on their website!
Hall's Haunted Halls
One of the region's favorite haunted houses, Hall's Haunted Halls is located at the historic Hall Elementary School building near Monrovia. Open on Friday and Saturday nights in October, this haunted attraction is a great way to get into the Halloween spirit! Kids under age must be accompanied by an adult. Doors "creep" open at 7 pm and "slam shut" at 11 pm. Tickets are $12 at the door, or $10 when purchased online.
Drink at the Creek Concert
Join Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery for the final installment of this year's Drink at the Creek Concert Series on October , featuring live music from five popular bands. Attendees will enjoy the sounds of Taste Like Chicken, Bigg Country, Split Rail, Blue River and Pure Country as they soak up the beautiful atmosphere and their beverages of choice. Admission is free; there is a $10 per car parking fee. All ages welcome.
Wines & Vines Container Party
Join Greendell Landscape Solutions on October 6 & 7 for the fall edition of their very popular Wines & Vines Container Party event! There will be snacks and wine available as you create a beautiful fall themed container garden. The event's $50 fee includes everything you need, including soil, plants, drainage components and your first glass of wine! Register in advance as spaces are limited.
October Fest (kid-friendly)
Always the first weekend of October, (Oct. 6-7 this year) this event is fast becoming an annual tradition at Anderson Orchard! The family friendly October Fest features all the normal fun of Anderson Orchard - apple and berry picking, pumpkin patch, hayrides, straw pyramid, cider slushies - plus lots of fun inflatables for the kids to enjoy, live music and food trucks on site! Come enjoy a beautiful fall day at the Orchard.
Storytime at Fables & Fairy Tales
Join Martinsville's downtown book shop for storytime events on Sunday afternoons. October's featured books will be John Deere, That's Who, read by teacher Sarah Cleveland on October 7, Disney 5 Minute Spooky Stories, read by Rapunzel on October 21, and B is for Boo, ready by Amanda Hicks on October 28. Each story is followed by a fun, story-themed activity. Stories begin at 1 pm. All ages are welcome, but stories are targeted to ages 2-6.
Make A Memory Spoon
Join the Morgan County Public Library for this fun and creative program. Bring a copy of a photo sized to fit in a teaspoon; all other supplies are provided. Teens and adults welcome, advanced registration is required. Program begins at 6:30 pm on October 9.
2nd Friday Open Studios Night
October's monthly Open Studios Night at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana will feature the Fall Foliage Festival Art Show, plus Open Mic Night featuring local musicians and other performers. Stop in and visit with resident artists on October 12 from 6 to 9 pm.
Fall Foliage Conservation Tour
Join the Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District and educator Greg Marlett for this fun program on October 10! This year's tour will meet at 9:30 am at New Beginnings Community Church in Morgantown, then caravan to the new Indiana Agriculture and Technology School, where participants will enjoy a tour of the facilities via hayride.
No Cover Songwriters Showcase
This monthly singer/songwriter showcase is held at Zydeco's Cajun on the second Thursday of each month. Enjoy great food and drink in a fun atmosphere as you take in the talents of three featured local and regional songwriters. Music begins at 5 pm.
Morgan County Fall Foliage Festival
The area's signature fall festival kicks off on Thursday, October 11 and lasts until Sunday, October 14! The entire courthouse square shuts down to welcome fun carnival rides, great food and vendor booths. Join them for lots of fun extras like Farmers Day at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, a 5k run/walk, art exhibit, live music and entertainment throughout the festival and, of course, the parade on Sunday at 1 pm.
2nd Friday Open Studios Night
Stop by the Art Sanctuary of Indiana in downtown Martinsville for your chance to chat with area artists about their work and view this month's exhibit - the Fall Foliage Festival Art Show! There are often additional activities going on during Open Studios Night, such as Open Mic Night in the lower gallery or swing dancing!
Knobstone Trail Mini Marathon
This annual race takes place on October 13 this year featuring several course lengths to ensure that all skill levels can participate. Enjoy a beautiful fall run on the trails of Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Courses are cleared each year before the race and feature long, mostly level stretches with a few steep hills tempered by switchbacks.
Winter Farmers Market
The Morgan County Farmers Market has something new for this year - a Winter Market! Every other Saturday throughout the fall, you can find local vendors at Keller Hall, adjacent to the First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Washington and Sycamore Streets. When the weather gets bad, they'll move inside the hall. Items available will include cool weather vegetables, sorghum molasses, local meat, baked goods and a variety of handmade items. This month's dates are October 13 and 27.
Sammy Terry Live
See Sammy Terry Live at the Art Sanctuary on Sunday, October 14, beginning at 6 pm. There will be a live show, movie and concessions on site, as well as a meet and greet opportunity. Tickets are $10 per person and there are a limited number available.
Oktoberfest Pairing Dinner: Great Lakes Brewing
Join 21 North Eatery and Cellar for their latest Pairing Dinner, this time featuring beers from Great Lakes Brewing (Cleveland, OH) along with Chef Matt's mouthwatering creations. There will be five courses, each paired with a Great Lakes brew. Cost is $55 per person (21+) and seating is limited.
The Merry MAC Players, Martinsville's community theatre group, presents the popular musical Godspell at the historic Depot Theatre. The acclaimed musical production is primarily based on the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, set to the music of traditional hymns. Performances will be at 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 pm on Sundays, October 19-28. Tickets are $15 in advance or $17 at the door.
Green Township Fall Festival
The Green Township Fire Rescue presents a fun fall festival event with pumpkins, costumes, face painting and more! Seasonal snacks will be available on site including hot cider and caramel apples. The event runs from Noon to 5 pm on October 20.
Bobby Helms Tribute
One of Martinsville's most famous residents, Bobby Helms was the man responsible for Jingle Bell Rock, Fraulein and My Special Angel. Experience this special tribute concert at The Main Street Stage, adjacent to Tom Fiddlery on October 20 and 21. There will be two shows each day - Saturday at 6 and 8 pm and Sunday at 1 and 3 pm. Admission is $15 per person. All ages welcome.
Link Observatory Programs
Explore the night skies with Link Observatory Space Science Institute's October public program! Each month features a different topic about space, NASA programs or exploration. This month's event is on October 20 at 8 pm at the Morgan County Public Library. There will be shuttles to the Observatory afterward for public viewing through the telescope, if weather permits. Don't miss out on their other fun programs, too - open observation night is always the first Saturday of the month and daytime open hours are on Thursday, October 18 this month.
Halloween Comicfest & Stuart Sayger Signing
Comic book fans, here's your chance to meet artist Stuart Sayger and watch him at work. Stuart is a cover artist and the creator of Shiver in the Dark. The event will also feature free comic books, candy, and a trunk or treat event for little ones in costume. Stop by Krypton Comics beginning at 6 pm on October
Pumpkins in the Park
Bring the kids on October 28 for this fun annual event from Martinsville City Parks, featuring a fun hayride, up Jimmy Nash Park Hill, meeting storybook characters along trick or treat trail and a pumpkin carving and decorating station! Appropriate for all ages and costumes are welcome!
Thrillers & Chillers Concert
The Martinsville Community Band is getting into the Halloween spirit this year with a fun seasonal concert! Join them on October 29 at the First Baptist Church on Columbus Street in Martinsville for fun seasonal music. There will also be refreshments on hand from local bakery Knead the Dough! Music starts at 7 pm and costumes are encouraged. Admission is by donation.
Harry Potter Halloween Party
Back by popular demand is the Mooresville Public Library Harry Potter Halloween Party! Patrons of all ages are welcome to join in the fun with games, crafts and snacks. No registration is required for this event, but costumes are encouraged.
Mooresville's Halloween tradition continues this year with Halloween Hike, held each year on Halloween night for children ages 10 and under. Kids will love the one mile walk along Park Road where they'll meet all sorts of characters (and get a few treats as well). There's also a marshmallow ghost roast and hayride!
