October means changing leaves (and weather), apple cider, walks on leaf-covered trails, spooky Halloween events and more to help your family create a month to remember. Fall Color!
We're already seeing some very early signs of fall color in the area, and we expect peak color to hit late in October this year. Plan your visit accordingly if you've got leaf-peeping plans. (Here are some suggestions for where to peep.)

Daily - Downtown Martinsville is Worth the Walk Passport
Pick up a passport, then, go shopping! Any time you make a purchase from a participating business in Downtown Martinsville, you'll get a stamp on your passport. Once you've collected five stamps (must be from five different businesses), simply turn in your card at a listed shop or restaurant, and you’ll be entered to win one of several $50 weekly prizes — and the Grand Prize, worth $500! We'll draw a winner each week. The last day of the promotion will be Small Business Saturday (Nov 29), after which we'll make sure we've collected all the entries and draw for our Grand Prize winner!

Mondays - Pioneer Pathfinders Walk
Meet at Pioneer Park, every Monday for this casual walk around the park. Locals and visitors are all welcome to participate in this public health and fitness initiative. Meet at Shelter #2, walk begins at 9 am. 

Tuesdays & Saturdays - Morgan County Farmers Market 
Join area growers and crafters at the Farmers Market each week through September. Tuesday Market takes place at the Friends Church in Mooresville from 3 to 7 pm and Saturday Market takes place at The Main Connection in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm. Vendors feature locally grown veggies, eggs, meat and handcrafted items such as jewelry, soaps, candles, woodcrafts and more. There are frequently live music performances during the market as well! 

Wednesdays - Martinsville in Motion City Walk
All are welcome to participate in this local health and fitness initiative in downtown Martinsville. Enjoy a stroll around the community every Wednesday at Noon. There are three routes with varying distances. Meet up outside of Churches in Mission on Pike Street. 

Thursdays - Martinsville Cruise-in 
Join the fun with a variety of vintage cars each Thursday evening in Martinsville. Beginning at 5 pm, cars, trucks and other vehicles begin arriving at Martinsville Plaza on Burton Lane for the Martinsville Cruise-in, a weekly event that creates a fun and festive atmosphere for anyone looking for a great place to enjoy a chat with vehicle owners. The new location is within walking distance of Sgt. Pepper's Chicken and several fast food options. 

Fridays & Saturdays - Hall's Haunted Halls
Make plans now to enjoy one of the best seasonal haunted houses in the Indy region. Hall's Haunted Halls will be open Fridays and Saturdays in October. The doors creep open at 7 pm and slam closed at 11 pm. Tickets are available online ($15) or at the door ($20). Kids under 10 (admitted ONLY with an adult over 18) are $10 at the door only. This haunted house is 100% volunteer operated and proceeds go to the Hall Civic Organization. Refreshments are provided on site by the Boy Scouts for a reasonable price. 

Fridays - Taps on the Square
Each and every Friday evening on the courthouse square, watch and listen as American heroes are honored with Taps on the Square. This weekly event has taken place without fail since December, 2012. During the courthouse renovation project, the location of Taps on the Square will shift to the southeast corner of the square near the Morgan County Veterans Memorial at the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets. Names are read beginning at 6:55 pm and live, rolling Taps is sounded at the the seventh bell by the Indiana Spirit of '45 Buglers. This is truly an experience - even those enjoying outdoor dining at area restaurants or walking down the street will pause in respect for this weekly Morgan County tradition.  

Oct. 3 - The Eras Tour Experience
On Friday October 3rd, at 8 pm, the Martinsville Arts Council and The BillyO Show present “The Eras Tour Experience,” featuring the music of Taylor Swift performed by SPENSER. Come out and enjoy a fun and exciting evening at the Historic Martinsville Depot Theatre located at 210 N. Marion St. Tickets are only $15, and are available in advance on eventbrite.com. 

Oct. 4 - Ronli Ratliff Memorial Cornhole Tournament & Live Music: Michael McCartney
Join the Ronli Ratliff Memorial Fund on Saturday, October 4 at Old Town Waverly Park for their 3rd Annual Ronli Ratliff Memorial Cornhole Tournament. Participants will come together for a day of fun, competition and camaraderie, in the name of a great cause. Live music this year will feature Michael McCartney! 

Oct. 4 - Big O Tires Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show
The 26th Annual Big O Tires Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will be held at Big O Tires Mooresville on Saturday, October 4. Registration from 11 am to 1 pm; trophies presented at 4 pm. Awards given will include Best of Show, Best Car, Best Truck, Best Motorcycle, Top 10, Employee's Pick and more! Mirror plaques for the first 100 entries. Food truck and DJ on site. Door prizes, 50/50 drawing, and Silent Auction. Entry fee is $20. No charge for spectators.

Oct. 4 - Drink at the Creek: Hairbangers Ball & The Big 80s 
Outdoor concert season's not over yet at The Creek! Enjoy live music with regional favorites Hairbangers Ball and The Big 80s on the stage at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery, beginning at 5 pm. As always, there will be plenty of locally crafted beverages available, as well as food options on site. Bring your own seating. All ages welcome. 

Oct. 4-26 - Fall Petting Zoo at Anderson Orchard
Join Anderson Orchard in Mooresville for a Fall Petting Zoo experience provided by Barnyard Party Pals! Animals will be on site, Oct. 4-26. This event overlaps with their annual Fall Break Activities as well, so double check those dates if you want to experience both! 

Oct. 4 - Live Music: Austin James
Black Dog Brewing Company presents the LIVE @ Black Dog Summer Patio Concert Series, every Saturday through October 4! The patio is open, the beer is cold, the flat bread pizza is hot, and all are welcome!  The final show of this outdoor series will feature music from local favorite Austin James. 

Oct. 4 - Live Music: Ellie Grayce
67 Boars Nest in Paragon will host live music with Ellie Grayce on Saturday, October 4, beginning at 9 pm. 

Oct. 4 - Live Music: The Daniel Milton Band
On Saturday, October 4 bring your lawn chairs and enjoy live music at The Links at Heartland Crossing Golf Course. Music starts at 6 pm with The Daniel Milton Band. 

Oct. 4 - Open Mic Night & Pints
The Main Street Grill in Monrovia invites you to enjoy a monthly Open Mic Night on the First Saturday of each month. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. All musicians, songwriters and singers are welcome to sign up to perform, or just come and enjoy the local talent!

Oct. 4 - Paragon Classic, Champions Night & Ticket to Tulsa Finale
Join Paragon Speedway for their season finale featuring the Paragon Classic and Champions Night on October 5. Featured cars will include 410 Sprints, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Bombers, and Hornets. General admission or Pit admission available.  

Oct. 7-18 - Fall Break Festivities at Anderson Orchard
Join Anderson Orchard for this year's installment of fun Fall Break Festivities, October 7-18. The orchard is open from 8 am to dark each day and activities will include a petting zoo, face painting, hay rides, on site concessions and the Gumption Chef Food Truck! All normal orchard activities will be avilable as well, including the playground and giant straw pile, u-pick apples and raspberries and of course, cider slushies! 

Oct. 8 - Speaker: History of Morgan County Library
On October 8, join the Morgan County History Center and Museum for a special presentation on the history of the Morgan County Library and a tour! The original library building was a Carnegie Library, and there have been two significant additions over the years. 

Oct. 9-12 - Morgan County Fall Foliage Festival
This annual four-day festival is a Martinsville tradition! The Fall Foliage Festival will temporarily relocate to the Morgan County Fairgrounds this year (and next) due to an ongoing renovation project on the courthouse square. Enjoy carnival rides, vendor booths, a 5K run/walk, bed races, art exhibit, car show, live music and so much more! The festival takes place October 9-12. The Fall Foliage Festival Parade steps off at 1 pm on Sunday. Schedule available on our blog.

Oct. 10 - 2nd Friday Open Studios & Open Mic Night
October's monthly Open Studios Night at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana will feature the a special Fall Art Show, which will also be on display throughout the month. Stop in and visit with resident artists on October 10 from 6 to 9 pm and enjoy Open Mic Night in the downstairs gallery as well! This is a free event and all are welcome.

Oct. 10 - Jimmy Nash Pumpkin Patch
Jimmy Nash City Park in Martinsville will once again host a Pumpkin Patch event for families to enjoy the fall season at the park. The first 200 kids age 16 and younger can choose a pumpkin from the patch (while supplies last). Kids of all ages can enjoy additional activities including games, face painting and more. This is a free event and all are welcome. 

Oct. 11 - Pioneer Pickers Fall Sale
Join Pioneer Pickers on High Street in Mooresville for their Fall Sale! These fun seasonal events bring a variety of vendors to the grounds of the shop, so you can browse them all at the same time! You'll find antiques, vintage items, collectibles, primitives, home decor items and even homemade goods! The Fall Sale will take place on Saturday, October 11, from 9 am to 3 pm. 

Oct. 11 - Live Music: Don Stuck Band
Come enjoy live music from the Don Stuck Band, live at Cedar Creek Martinsville! Music begins at 6 pm on Saturday, October 11. Family friendly and free to attend. 

Oct. 11 - Live Music: Mikey Goode
The Main Street Grill in Martinsville will host Mikey Goode for live music beginning at 8 pm. Located on the east side of the courthouse square on  Jefferson Street. 

Oct. 12 - 7th Annual Wheels for Veterans Car Truck & Motorcycle Show 
The Mooresville Fraternal Order of Eagles presents their 6th Annual Wheels for Veterans Car Truck & Motorcycle Show on Sunday, October 12. This car show benefits area veterans organizations including the Honor Flight Network. Registration begins at 9 am with awards at 2 pm. Enjoy live music, door prizes and refreshments on site. 

Oct. 14 - Martinsville Community Choir Fall Concert
Join the Martinsville Community Band for their annual Fall Concert This year's concert will feature some of your favorite folk music! The concert will take place on October 14 at The Art Sanctuary of Indiana, beginning at 7 pm. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. 

Oct. 18 - (Possibly) World Record Trunk or Treat
Porch Time LLC, a local independent media group, and the Tread Trimmers Car Club invite you to help them pack the fairgrounds in an attempt to host the world's largest Trunk or Treat event on October 18, from 5 to 9 pm. This event will take place at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in the infield at the Grandstand. They'll be expecting more than 250 vehicles (it'll take 275 to make it a record!) that will be decorated and ready to pass out candy! This event is a community fundraiser for local resident Bowen Lanfair to help with medical bills and other expenses. 

Oct. 18 - Drink at the Creek: The Beatles vs The Stones & Dean Martini
Enjoy another great Drink at the Creek concert at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery on October 18 with The Beatles vs The Stones and Dean Martini! As always, tickets are available online or at the gate. Bring your own seating. Small coolers and picnics are welcome, food trucks are available on site and the eatery will be open with a limited menu. This is a family friendly show, but please leave the pets at home on concert days. 

Oct. 18 - Open Mic Night & Pints
The Main Street Grill in Martinsville invites you to enjoy a monthly Open Mic Night on the third Saturday of each month. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. All musicians, songwriters and singers are welcome to sign up to perform, or just come and enjoy the local talent!

Oct. 19 - Orchard Dash
Anderson Orchard will once again host their Orchard Dash 5K event on Saturday, October 19. This fun event is the only 5K in the Indy region held on the grounds of an orchard! The course takes you through the orchard along a route with beautiful hills, apple trees, berry fields, a pumpkin patch and pond along the way. A shorter Kids' Lil' Apple Dash race is held for the little ones as well. Participants get to indulge in caramel apples and apple cider after the race! 

Oct. 19 - Free Concert: Gospel Fest featuring Downpour
Enjoy a special live music event in downtown Martinsville on Sunday, October 19 with the final Downtown Martinsville Free Concert of the season. This fall Gospel Fest concert features several local gospel groups, plus featured band DownPour. Attendees will enjoy live music beginning at 2 pm at The Venue in downtown Martinsville.  Bring your own seating; food trucks are typically on site and downtown eateries are open for dine in before the show, or carryout!   

Oct. 21 - Community Concert: The Suits
The Morgan County Community Concerts Association presents the kickoff event for their 2025-2026 season. Join them at the Mooresville High School Auditorium for a captivating performance from The Suits. Single show tickets are $15 per person; available online or at the door. 

Oct. 23 - Titles & Tastes: A Book & Wine Pairing Event
This event is a fun collaboration between Cedar Creek Winery & Eatery and our favorite independent book shop, Fables & Fairy Tales! Enjoy an intimate evening of wine tasting and book shopping on Thursday, October 23 from 5 to 7 pm. Titles & Tastes: A Book & Wine Pairing Event will feature wine tasting, a glass of your favorite variety and the opportunity to shop a specially hand-picked selection of books, including their popular "blind date books." Tickets are limited; cost is $25 per person. Additional food and drink available for purchase. 

Oct. 24 - VFW Post 1257 Steak n Fish Dinner
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1257 in Martinsville hosts a steak n fish dinner on the fourth Friday of each month at their location, 1000 Josephine Street. Meal choices are steak, baked potato, and salad for $20 per plate or fish, fries, and cole slaw for $15 per plate. This monthly event is open to the public and sometimes is followed by live music, from 8 to 10 pm.

Oct. 25 - Cedar Creek Haunted Wine Run 5K
Join Cedar Creek Winery on Saturday, October 25 for the Cedar Creek Wine Run 5K! The race begins at 9 am and the course features the gorgeous scenic views of Cedar Creek Winery. Come experience Indiana's only Winery, Brewery & Distillery all in once location. Whether you're looking to run, walk, or just enjoy the wine, this race is a sure thing for a great time and an incredible experience. This race is timed and scored by J3 Timing. Registration available online and includes a t-shirt, shatterproof portable wine glass, finisher medal, race bib and of course, a pour of wine! 

Oct. 25 - Corinth Baptist Church Annual Craft Fair
The Craft Club at Corinth Baptist Church will host their annual Craft Fair at the Church on Plano Road on Saturday, October 25, from 9 am to 3 pm. They'll have a wide variety of locally crafted items, and a homemade lunch with be available on site as well! 

Oct. 25 - Halloween Hike
Mooresville's annual Halloween tradition returns to Pioneer Park this year. The popular Halloween Hike event takes place on Saturday, October 25, beginning at 2 pm and features approximately 20 stops along a mile long trail along the park road. Treats and trinkets will be distributed to participating kids, age 12 and under. 

Oct. 25 - HalloweenFest
Jimmy Nash City Park invites you to come enjoy the third annual HalloweenFest on Saturday, October 25. From 7 to 9 pm, kids can tour the various park shelter houses that will be decorated in various themes and trick or treat throughout the park. This is a free event!  

Oct. 25 - RESCHEDULED Drink at the Creek: Hot Red Chili Peppers & Whatever, Nevermind
Way back in the summer, this fun concert was postponed due to inclement weather, so come on out on October 25 to enjoy live music on the stage at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery, beginning at 5 pm. Be sure to wear your 90s flannel - both for the cooler fall weather and because this concert will feature the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana through nationally-touring tribute bands Hot Red Chili Peppers and Whatever, Nevermind! As always, there will be plenty of locally crafted beverages available, as well as food options on site. Bring your own seating. All ages welcome. 

Oct. 25 - The Haunting of Waverly
Join Old Town Waverly Park for the annual Haunting of Waverly event featuring a trunk-or-treat, traditional arts demonstrations and more! The haunting takes place beginning at 5 pm on Saturday, October 25th. Watch out for the headless horseman after 7 pm if you take the River Trail Hayride! (There is a charge for the hayride.)

Oct. 26 - 8th Annual Sammy Terry Live Stage Show 
See legendary performer Sammy Terry live at the Art Sanctuary, just in time for Halloween. The Art Sanctuary will host this event on Sunday, October 26 beginning at 6 pm. Concessions will be available and there is a meet and greet opportunity after the show. Tickets are limited.

Oct. 29 - Morgan in Motion 5K
Join the YMCA of Morgan County for the Morgan in Motion 5K Run/Walk Series on the last Wednesday of each month, April through October. Each month, the run/walk takes place at a different location within the county, featuring parks and camps. This is a free, family-friendly event. Race begins at 6 pm. October's featured location is Bradford Woods! 

Oct. 29 - Tread Trimmers Car Club Cruise In at Culver's
The Tread Trimmers Car Club of Martinsville will host a monthly cruise in event at the Culvers location at the corner of Ohio Street and Prather Drive, Martinsville on the last Wednesday of each month. Stop by from 5 to 8 pm to check out all the cool classic and unique vehicles! 

Oct. 31 - Yappy Howl-o-ween
Stop by the green space outside of Gather Around BBQ during trick or treating on Halloween night to visit with Little Rascals Pet Rescue during their annual Yappy Howl-o-ween event! They'll be there from 6 to 8:30 pm to welcome both pups and human kids for fun and treats. 

Oct. 31 - Halloween at The Creek featuring Homemade Jam
Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery invite you to enjoy Halloween at The Creek with live music from Homemade Jam, a costume contest and more! The fun begins at 7 pm on Saturday, October 31.
