The days get colder and the holiday decorations come out during the month of November as we transition from beautiful fall color to the colorful twinkling lights of the holiday season! It's time to hit up the craft shows and holiday open houses for those perfect holiday gifts, enjoy some indoor entertainment and of course, bask in the sunshine of those final warmer days of fall. Hit up Morgan County's various trails and parks on those warmer days, and enjoy the area's many shops on those cooler days as we begin to usher in the holiday season! 

Candy Cane Pours
Every Saturday in November and December, the Martinsville Candy Kitchen makes holiday dreams come true with their handmade candy canes. Don't miss the kickoff event for this year's 100th Candy Cane Season on Nov. 2!  Watch their Facebook page for details on Saturday pour times each week, and additional pour times as they're scheduled. Don't miss Santa's visits on Nov. 30 and Dec. 21 and check out all the other sweet treats while you're there!

Stacked Pumpkin/Snowman Class
Join the Full Circle Shop in Mooresville to create this adorable (and reversible) wooden sign! Class is Nov. 6. Participants will go home with a decorative sign featuring stacked pumpkins on one side and a snowman on the other. Register in advance. 

The Farmhouse Market Christmas Open House

Second Friday Open Studios Night
Join the Art Sanctuary for November's Open Studios Night! Mingle with resident artists, see this month's exhibit featuring abstract artwork and maybe even get a bit of holiday shopping done! Drop in any time between 6 and 9 pm on Nov. 8. 

Owl Prowl
On Friday, Nov. 8, join Morgan County Parks director Jules in the dark of night for a traipse through the prairie trails of Burkhart Creek Park near paragon. You'll seek owls and other night sounds in the park on level trails of pavement and crushed stone. All ages welcome, but participants must be able to create times of quiet and stillness. Dress for the weather and meet at Pierce Shelter by the main parking lot.

Winter Market
On Nov. 9 and 23, the Morgan County Farmers Market Association presents Winter Market at Keller Hall on Washington Street. This every-other-weekend market features locally handcrafted items, locally grown meats, winter produce and more. 

First Baptist Church Craft Fair
Join the First Baptist Church for their annual Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 9. This annual event features a variety of local vendors with all sorts of fun handcrafted gift items. Refreshments are available on site. 

Jingle Bell Bazaar
River Valley Christian Church of Martinsville will host the Jingle Bell Bazaar, a Christmas shopping event on Nov. 9, from 10 am to 3 pm. There will be lots of great arts and crafts vendors as well as direct sales. There will be kids crafts on site and Santa will be there from Noon to 1 pm.

Artie Fest Craft Fair
The second annual Artie Fest Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. Browse through dozens of independent craft vendors as you search for those perfect gifts. Be sure to dig out your ugly Christmas sweaters, too - they're having a contest!

Holiday Fair & Breakfast with Santa
Join Waverly Elementary School for a fun Holiday event featuring breakfast with Santa on Nov. 9. The event will take place at the elementary school from 8 am to 1 pm.

Mooresville Christian Academy Arts & Crafts Fair
From 9 am to 3 pm on Nov. 9, the Mooresville Christian Academy will host a school full of artisan booths! Admission is free, vendor products will be raffled every hour AND Santa will be available for photos from 11 am to 2 pm!

Christmas Sign Making Classes

Stand up Comedy at The Depot
Join the Martinsville Arts Council for a fun stand up comedy show featuring four professional comedians from Central Indiana and beyond. The laughs begin at 7:30 pm on Nov. 15 and 16. Admission is $15 per person (ages 18+ only). Doors open at 6:30 pm. Featured performers are Mandee McKelvey, Natalie Bainter, Stephen Vincent Giles and Austin Reel.

Tri Kappa Turkey Trot
Burn off those Thanksgiving calories in advance with Tri Kappa's fun annual run event. Before the day's big meal, meet up on Thanksgiving morning at the Fox Cliff Manor Clubhouse for a 5K. Two routes are available - the Hard Way with a steep challenging hill, or the Easy Way which is mostly flat. All ages welcome.  

Tom Fiddlery Holiday Craft & Vendor Fair
For the first time, Tom Fiddlery and the Main Street Stage will welcome vendors and artisans to their space on the courthouse square in Martinsville for two days of holiday shopping fun! Join them on Black Friday, Nov. 29, to get that holiday shopping started!

Santa at Martinsville Candy Kitchen
Santa Claus himself will make his first appearance at the Martinsville Candy Kitchen on Saturday, Nov. 30. (Watch for another appearance on December 21.) The jolly old elf will be available to chat with kids of all ages from 2 to 4 pm. Cameras are welcome. 

Small Business Saturday Makers Market
The Art Sanctuary of Indiana will once again host their annual Small Business Saturday Maker's Market on Nov. 30 featuring unique artisan creations, local vendors and small businesses. Doors open at 10 am.

Footsteps Montessori Craft & Gift Fair
Join the Footsteps Montessori School for their annual craft and gift fair at the First Presbyterian Church. The show will feature artisan, craft and vendor booths on Nov. 30 from 9 am to 1 pm. 

Festival of Lights
The holiday lights at Martinsville's Jimmy Nash Park will come on for the season on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 30. Each year, Santa is on hand to light up the park for the entire season! Come out for the event, or just swing by any evening from Nov. 30 to New Year's to see the light displays.
