July conjures up images of fireworks, lightening bugs, summer fun and live music and outdoor dining. Don't forget to plan a visit to the great outdoors, and be sure to get some of these fun events on your calendar to celebrate summer in Morgan County.  

Morgan County Farmers Market
Join local growers and crafters twice each week for the Morgan County Farmers Market. The Market takes place on Tuesdays in Mooresville from 3 to 6 pm at the Friends Church and on Saturdays in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm at The Main Connection. 

Martinsville Community Band: American Salute
Join the Martinsville Community Band for an evening of patriotic music at the First Baptist Church in Martinsville on July 1. Songs of America and American favorites will be featured when the music begins at 7 pm. A $3 suggested donation is appreciated. 

Byzantine Chain Maille Bracelet Workshop
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst at The Sterling Butterfly for this evening workshop on July 2. You'll create a Byzantine Chain Maille bracelet by "weaving" metal links together. No experience necessary. Class size is limited, so reserve your space early!

Martinsville Pet Parade
Bring your pets out to play! On the morning of July 4, participating pets will join in the first ever Martinsville Pet Parade, a fundraiser for the Morgan County Humane Society. Prizes will be given for largest pet, smallest pet, best dressed and showmanship. Registration begins at 8 am; parade begins at 9 am.

Fireworks
You can't go wrong with live music and fireworks on the Fourth of July! Choose from celebrations at Pioneer Park in Mooresville (complete with skydivers), Jimmy Nash Park in Martinsville (live music starts at 3 pm), or at the Paragon Speedway, and be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs (and maybe some bug spray, too)!

Dirt Track Racing
On most Fridays, you'll find exciting racing action at the Paragon Speedway, a historic dirt track oval near Paragon, Indiana. Admission prices are affordable and kids are free with paid adult admission. Special event pricing in effect for select events. 

Link Observatory Open Observation
On the first Saturday of each month (July 6 this month), the experts from Link Observatory Space Science Institute open up the historic observatory for telescope observation, weather permitting. This event is free and open to all ages, beginning at 6 pm. 

CIBA Cemetery Tour
Bicyclists will delight in this fun annual cemetery tour of Morgan County on July 6. Sag stops are at area cemeteries and there are three route lengths to accommodate all levels. The ride is free and routes range from flat to rolling hills. Riders will leave from the Morgan County Courthouse at 8 am.

Drink at the Creek: Thunderstruck 
The summer concert series at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery continues with Thunderstruck, America's AC/DC tribute band that will have you singing along in no time! Opening act is Back in the Day. Music starts at 5 pm on Saturday, July 6. Admission is $15 in advance or $20 day of show. Kids under 12 are free and there is no parking fee. Overflow parking with shuttle service at nearby Hoosier Harvest Church. 

Live Music: The 78's
Catch live music from The 78's, an acoustic duo made up of Brett Hardin and Faith Marie, on July 7 from 2 to 5 pm at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery. This free show will feature a mix of covers and original songs. All ages welcome.

Classes with Internationally Known Artist Mariela Villasmil
Join world renowned artist Mariela Villasmil at The Art Sanctuary for a two-day drawing class or a three day watercolor class (or both!) July 9-13. Register early, as class size is limited to 10 students per class. Mariela is originally from Venezuela, but now lives in Texas. This is a unique opportunity to earn from a world-class artist.

Open Studios Night
Join the resident artists at The Art Sanctuary for their monthly Open Studios Night event. The event features more than a dozen local artists in their studio spaces to talk with you about their work and preferred techniques. There is almost always a featured exhibit in the main gallery and often you'll find live music courtesy of an Open Mic Night event in the lower gallery. Stop by between 6 and 9 pm. 

Artie Fest
The annual Artie Fest is fun for all ages in downtown Martinsville. Activities include the ArtieFest 5K, a car show, craft show, live music, food vendors, a beer and wine tent and so much more. On Friday, July 12, enjoy live music from Jake Dodds and Saturday's all day events will culminate with Cinema on the Square, featuring Disney's Moana.  

Christmas in July Pop Up Event
Join The FarmHouse Market in Mooresville for a fun pop up event featuring a Christmas in July theme! On July 13, beginning at 10 am, you'll find a variety of independent vendors along with food vendors outside this fun and eclectic shop. 

Bicentennial Park Concert: Ride That Train
Head for downtown Mooresville for their continuing Bicentennial Summer Concert Series. The July 13 event will feature free live music from Ride That Train. Hit up a local restaurant for dinner before the show begins at 7 pm.

Blue Eyes & Grey Skies Band
Join Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery for a free performance from local favorites the Blue Eyes & Grey Skies Band on July 13, beginning at 4 pm. This fun group will wow you with cover songs and bluegrass tunes as you enjoy locally crafted beverages. All ages are welcome.

Chicken Bone Acoustic Music
Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery welcomes Chicken Bone, an acoustic trio made up from members of the popular regional band Tastes Like Chicken. They play everything from A to Z in acoustic hits, old and new. Music begins at 2 pm on July 14. All ages welcome.

Indiana Cutters Semi-Pro Football
Are you missing football season? Get your football fix for the summer with semi professional football from the Indiana Cutters. Home games will be played right here in Martinsville on July 13 and July 20. 

Community Choir Concert
Come out and enjoy an evening of live music, courtesy of the Martinsville Community Choir on July 16. The group will perform music from the soundtrack of the movie Grease, as well as other hits of the 1950s. The show begins at 7:30 pm at the Art Sanctuary in Martinsville. Donations are accepted. 

FBF Originals Open House
Learn more about local Martinsville business FBF Originals. Also known as For Bare Feet, this sock manufacturer, distributor and retailer creates licensed and novelty socks. Enjoy a guided tour of the facility during an Open House between 5 and 7 pm on July 16 and take advantage of an in-store discount at their new factory store inside the building. Local fire, police and other safety personnel will also be on hand for kids to explore their vehicles.

Metazoa Brewing Pairing Dinner
Join 21 North Eatery & Cellar for an evening pairing dinner featuring Metazoa Brewing Company along with a five course menu from Chef Matthew Harukal on July 16. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm. These events regularly sell out, so reserve your tickets early! 

Daytime Observatory Hours
Come explore the historic Link Observatory during daylight hours! It's always fun to visit at night for observation, but don't miss the chance to check out this amazing structure and the grounds during the day and learn more about its history. Daytime Observatory hours will be Thursday, July 18 from 9 am to 3 pm. 

Batik Painting on Paper
Join artist Lynne Medsker on July 18 for this fun class at The Sterling Butterfly. You'll learn the batik painting on paper, including mark making, applying inks, wax and paint layers to see your creation come to life. No experience necessary. Recommended for ages 12 and up; class size is limited to register early.

Downtown Summer Concert: Blue River Band
Come enjoy a live outdoor concert in downtown Martinsville with the Blue River Band on July 18. Music begins at 6 pm; gates at 5 pm. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand when the gate opens. Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for a fun evening of free music. 

Jamie Nichole & West Fork Wiskey at 21 North
21 North Eatery and Cellar will host live music from local singer/songwriter Jamie Nichole on July 20. They will also feature special cocktails that evening with spirits from Indianapolis based West Fork Wiskey Company to accompany their always amazing dinner menu. 

Drink at the Creek: Simply Elton & An Innocent Band
This installment of the Drink at the Creek Summer Concert Series on July 20 at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery will feature two fun tribute bands. First up is An Innocent Band, which takes the stage at 5 pm with all your favorite Billy Joel tunes. Next is Simply Elton, featuring an Elton John tribute experience. Advance tickets are available online. Kids under 12 are free; no parking fee. Overflow parking with shuttle service at nearby Hoosier Harvest Church.   

Link Observatory LinkLive Presentation
Each month, learn something new about the world we live in through Link Observatory's LinkLive Space Science Presentation at the Mooresville Public Library. There's a different topic each month and shuttle service to the Observatory immediately after the presentation for telescope viewing. This month's presentation is July 20 and, as always, is free to the public. 

Live Music: Phil Pierle
Enjoy live  music at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery from Phil Pierle, a member of The Woomblies, on July 21 from 2 to 5 pm. This is a free acoustic show and all ages are welcome. 

Y Fun Run Series visits Waverly Park
This fun series of free runs from the Barbara B Jordan YMCA will take you all around Morgan County, visiting a different location each month. July's location is Waverly Park, along the White River, beginning at 6 pm on July 24. This series of casual run/walk events is free and open to all. 

Downtown Summer Concert: Trace Thompson
Downtown Martinsville welcomes you to a free outdoor music event, featuring Trace Thompson. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music on the lawn behind the Art Sanctuary. Local food and beverage vendors will be on site, or enjoy dinner from a downtown eatery. Gate opens at 5 pm; music begins at 6 pm. 

Travis Tritt in Concert
Kick off the Morgan County Fair in style this year with country superstar Travis Tritt on Friday, July 26! The show will open with regional favorites Bigg Country and Split Rail. VIP packages are still available. Don't miss this opportunity to see one of the biggest names in country music in a small town setting. Tickets available online.  

Morgan County Fair 
One of our very favorite weeks of the entire year, Fair Week means great food, live entertainment, carnival rides and farm animals - in other words, good old fashioned fun for all ages! Stop by to experience a true county fair, and don't forget to try the homemade donuts and ice cream. The Fair runs July 26 through August 3. Selected schedule. 

Bicentennial Park Concert: Random Reaction
Enjoy another installment of the Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series in Mooresville. The July 27 show features Random Reaction, with music beginning at 7 pm. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an evening in downtown Mooresville. Enjoy dinner before the show at a local eatery! 

Live Music: Frank Bradford
Enjoy live acoustic music from Frank Bradford at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery on July 28. Frank will perform his take on hits from Classic Rock and Modern Pop. Music begins at 2 pm. All ages welcome.
