July conjures up images of lazy days, fireworks, lightning bugs, summer funlive music and outdoor dining. Don't forget to plan a visit to the great outdoors. Our calendar is filling up fast with summer activities, so be sure to get some of these fun events on your calendar to celebrate summer in Morgan County (and be sure to keep an eye out for Waldo!).

Tuesdays & Saturdays - Morgan County Farmers Market
Join local growers and crafters twice each week for the Morgan County Farmers Market. The Market takes place on Tuesdays in Mooresville from 3 to 6 pm at the Friends Church and on Saturdays in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm at The Main Connection. 

Wednesdays - Kids' Summer Movie Series
Mooresville Showtime Cinema will continue their Kids' Summer Movie Series on Wednesdays through July 27. Admission for this series of fun, kid-friendly movies is 50 cents per person or canned goods that will be donated to Churches in Mission. An especially good option on super-hot or rainy summer days, this is always a crowd pleaser for the kids! Show time is 10 am. Films showing in July include Clifford the Big Red Dog on July 6, Paw Patrol: The Movie on July 13, Addams Family 2 on July 20 and Sing 2 on July 27.  

Thursdays - Fun on the Farm Summer Program
Join the Little Red Barn Market at Walker's Homestead for a weekly summer kids' program, Fun on the Farm, each Thursday from 9 to 11 am. Program runs until August 4 and features fun farm-themed kids activities each week, plus the petting zoo, farm store, greenhouse and garden will be open as well. Kids activities are free of charge. 

Thursdays - Cruise in on the Square
Each week, on Thursdays beginning at 5 pm, you'll see some of the coolest cars, trucks and even motorcycles in the region at the Cruise-in on the Square as they cruise in to downtown Martinsville and set up around the historic courthouse square. This month, there's also live music nearby at the lawn adjacent to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana on select Thursdays. Come out and enjoy an evening in downtown Martinsville with great food, cool cars and live music!

July 1-31 - Where's Waldo!? 
Participate in this fun Where's Waldo themed passport program presented by Fables and Fairy Tales. Throughout the month of July, get your passport verified when you find Waldo at various locations in downtown Martinsville. The more you find Waldo, the more you win! Choose to look a little several times throughout the month, or participate in this month's downtown shopping event and see how many times you can find Waldo in one evening!  

July 1 - Live Music at Foxcliff Golf Club
Each Friday evening, beginning at 6 pm, Foxcliff Golf Club will host live music featuring a variety of local performers. Hoosier Que is also on hand with great food and drinks to enhance the experience. Come out and enjoy great food and music in a beautiful, friendly atmosphere. The July 1 performer is yet to be announced. Performance is free and all ages are welcome; please bring your own seating. 

July 4 - 4th of July Parade
Join the Indiana Spirit of '45 for a fun, old fashioned Independence Day Parade! The 3rd Annual 4th of July Parade will step off at 10 am on Monday, July 4, beginning at (and returning to) John R Wooden Middle School. All are welcome to participate.

July 4 - Live Music & Fireworks
You can't go wrong with fireworks on the Fourth of July! Choose from fireworks displays (and live music) launched from Pioneer Park in Mooresville or Jimmy Nash City Park in Martinville, both on the 4th. Both July 4 fireworks shows are set to begin at dusk. Live music begins earlier in the day at both venues. See our Independence Day blog post or Calendar of Events for more details on performers at both locations. Food vendors will be on hand at both locations as well. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs (and maybe some bug spray, too)!

July 7 - Free Martinsville Summer Concert: Main Street Band & The Isaac Family
Come out to downtown Martinsville on Thursday, July 7 for an evening of live music, shopping, dining and fun! Live music from the The Main Street Band and The Isaac Family will begin at 7 pm, giving you time to hit a locally owned shop or boutique and/or grab some dinner from a local eatery (order to go to enjoy your meal outdoors at the concert). This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Beer and wine from Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will be available on site. Bring your own seating. Concert takes place on Jefferson Street. 

July 7-9 - Terra Flora Garden Tours
Each year, the gorgeous Terra Flora Gardens are open for public tours for one weekend only. That weekend is July 7 & 9 this year! Come experience the beauty of these privately owned gardens featuring twenty themed gardens to explore. Roam and relax as you explore more than two acres containing a wide assortment of annuals, hardy perennials, ponds, waterfalls and art. 

July 8 - 2nd Friday Open Studios Night
Join the resident artists at The Art Sanctuary for their monthly Open Studios Night event on July 8. The event features more than a dozen local artists in their studio spaces to talk with you about their work and preferred techniques. Stop by between 6:30 and 8:30 pm.

July 8 - Live Music: Jessica Christie

July 8 - Free Mooresville Concert: Payton Collier & The Candleburners
Enjoy live music at beautiful Pioneer Park on July 8 from popular band Payton Collier & The Candleburners. Music will begin at 7 pm. Bring your own seating. Food and beverages will be available on site, including local beer and wine. This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. 

July 8-9 - Artie Fest
This fun, annual festival in Martinsville returns this year on July 8 and 9 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. Artie Fest features Colton Chapman live in concert on Friday evening along the the Direct Sales Vendor Market, and Touch-a-Truck, then enjoy a day full of fun on Saturday, starting with a 5K and continuing with the craft fair, car show, food vendors, cornhole tournament, trike race, kids' activities and live music throughout the day! The event will culminate at dusk with the Artie Fest movie featuring Disney's Encanto. 

July 9 - Downtown Mooresville Street Fair
Come on out to downtown Mooresville on Saturday, July 9 to enjoy the second of three fun summer Downtown Street Fair events! Put together by The Farmhouse Market, along with other downtown merchants, these fun events feature a wide variety of vendors, food, music and activities. Come see what's happening this month in downtown Mooresville! 

July 9 -  Dirt Track Racing: Hornet Special
On most Saturdays, you'll find exciting racing action at the Paragon Speedway, a historic dirt track oval near Paragon, Indiana. Admission prices are affordable and kids are free with paid adult admission, so it's a great family outing. Special event pricing in effect for select events. July 9 will feature a Hornet Special in addition to the night's regularly scheduled races. 

July 9 - Drink at the Creek: Back 2 Mac & Those Damn Torpedoes 
Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery presents the next installment of the Drink at the Creek Concert Series on July 9. Music will begin at 5 pm featuring Fleetwood Mac tribute band Back 2 Mac and Tom Petty tribute band Those Damn Torpedoes . This is an all-ages show and kids age 12 and under are free. Bring your own seating. Food and beverages available onsite. Coolers welcome; no outside alcohol allowed.

July 9 - Beer Pairing Dinner
Join Chef Matt and his friendly staff at 21 North Eatery + Cellar for a Beer Pairing Dinner featuring Mooresville's Black Dog Brewing Co. This amazing meal will feature 5 courses, carefully paired with 4 of Black Dog's unique brews. Make your reservations early, as space is limited for this special culinary event.  

July 15 - Live Music: Sisters Brew
Each Friday evening, beginning at 6 pm, Foxcliff Golf Club will host live music featuring a variety of local performers. Hoosier Que is also on hand with great food and drinks to enhance the experience. Come out and enjoy great food and music in a beautiful, friendly atmosphere. The July 15 performer is Sisters Brew. This event is is free and all ages are welcome; please bring your own seating. 

July 16 - Sweet Corn Festival
The Sweet Corn Festival at Maple Grove Market returns this year with fun for all ages, and tasty Hoosier sweet corn, of course! On Saturday, July 16, from 11 am to 3 pm this free event will feature live entertainment, a car and antique tractor show, roasted sweet corn, a bounce house and farm market. 

July 16 - Dirt Track Racing: Amati Classic 68 Laps
On most Saturdays, you'll find exciting racing action at the Paragon Speedway, a historic dirt track oval near Paragon, Indiana. Admission prices are affordable and kids are free with paid adult admission, so it's a great family outing. Special event pricing in effect for select events. July 16 will feature the annual Amati Classic 68 Laps.   

July 20 - Sip & Savasana: Yoga at The Creek
Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co is partnering with Peaceful Spirit Yoga of Mooresville to host yoga at The Creek on July 20, beginning at 6 pm. Join them for a relaxing evening of Sip and Savasana at Cedar Creek. Please bring your own yoga mat. This is an outdoor, beginner-friendly class. Registration is $18 and includes one drink ticket that can be used for either beer or wine. Pre-registration is highly encouraged!

July 21 - Free Martinsville Summer Concert: BIGG COUNTRY
Come out to downtown Martinsville on Thursday, July 21 for an evening of live music, shopping, dining and fun! Live music from popular regional favorites BIGG COUNTRY will begin at 7 pm, giving you time to hit a locally owned shop or boutique and/or grab some dinner from a local eatery (order to go to enjoy your meal outdoors at the concert). This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Beer and wine from Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will be available on site. Bring your own seating. Concert takes place on Jefferson Street. 

July 21 - 3rd Thursday on the Square: Where's Waldo?
You can search for Waldo all month long, but this month's 3rd Thursday on the Square shopping event is dedicated to the man in red and white as well! Come out and visit as many local businesses as possible while enjoying this fun monthly event with sales, specials, pop up shops and more from local downtown merchants. Hours may vary by business, but the event generally runs from 5 to 8 pm (though you're welcome to start early!). 

July 22 - TAPS on the Square 500th Mission
A weekly tradition in downtown Martinsville, Taps on the Square honors fallen heroes both locally and around the country, including active military, veterans, law enforcement and more. July 22 will mark the 500th Mission of this touching event brought to you by Spirit of '45. Gather at the southwest corner of the square. Names are read beginning at 6:50 pm, followed by live, rolling Taps at 7 pm.  

July 22 - Free Mooresville Summer Concert: Tastes Like Chicken  
Enjoy live music at beautiful Pioneer Park on July 22 from popular regional favorite Tastes Like Chicken. Music will begin at 7 pm. Bring your own seating. Food and beverages will be available on site, including local beer and wine. This is a free performance and all ages are welcome.  

July 23 - Dust Bowl 100 Gravel Bike Race
The tiny town of Eminence will welcome bicyclists from around Indiana and beyond for the Dust Bowl 100 Gravel Bike Race on Saturday, July 23. That's right, 100 miles of bicycling on some of the finest gravel roads in Indiana! Participants will cross several historic bridges and roll through scenic vistas in Morgan and Putnam Counties. The number of participants is limited and pre-registration is a must. 

July 23 - Willowfield Summer Concert: Wilson & Co.
One of our favorite summer concert venues, Willowfield Lavender Farm, has announced their upcoming Summer Concert featuring Wilson & Co. Join them on July 23 at 5 pm. Cost is $5 per person. Bring your own seating. Picnics welcome! Mallow Run Winery will be on site with wine tasting and sales, and the farm will have their signature lavender teas and cookies available as well. Come enjoy the tunes and relax amid the lavender. 

July 23 - Drink at the Creek: Toy Factory & Jambox

Are you ready for the 2022 Morgan County Fair!? Enjoy live entertainment, grandstand events, the carnival midway, fun contests, 4-H exhibits, merchant booths and of course, all that fair food! Make sure you check out the local vendors in the food court to support local organizations - plus those local options include all our favorites: pork, beef, homemade recipe ice cream, lemon shake-ups, pizza, tacos, fresh donuts and more! (Please note: Midway rides open on Sunday, Aug. 1. See calendar of events for specific ride promotions.)

July 30 - Dirt Track Racing

July 30 - Flying S Rodeo
Enjoy an evening at the Grandstands at the Morgan County Fair featuring the Flying S Rodeo. Gates open at 5 pm; Family Hour is 5:30 to 6:30 pm and the rodeo action starts at 7 pm. Don't forget to come early to fuel up at the local food booths on the fairgrounds!  

July 31 - Happy Birthday Harry Tea
Paula June's Tea Room & Cakery will host a very special Happy Birthday Harry tea event to celebrate the birthday of the Boy Who Lived, aka Harry Potter. You'll visit with a Charms professor, try on the Sorting Hat, enjoy Butter Beer and more! Cost is $25 per person; space is limited. Call 765-913-4191 for reservations.
