July conjures up images of fireworks, lightening bugs, summer fun and live music and outdoor dining. Don't forget to plan a visit to the great outdoors, and be sure to get some of these fun events on your calendar to celebrate summer in Morgan County.  

You can't go wrong with live music and fireworks on the Fourth of July! Choose from celebrations at Pioneer Park in Mooresville (complete with skydivers) or Jimmy Nash Park in Martinsville (live music starts at 3 pm), and be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs (and maybe some bug spray, too)!

Music on the Green
Join Holy Smoke Hog Roast Company for the first installment of Music on the Green, a series of acoustic concerts held in the green space adjacent to their outdoor (dog-friendly) patio space. Enjoy the sounds the Wilsons on July 6, beginning at 6 pm. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy an evening on the square. Full, including beer and wine will be available on the Green. 

Link Observatory Open Observation
On the first Saturday of each month (July 7 this month), the experts from Link Observatory Space Science Institute open up the historic observatory for telescope observation, weather permitting. This event is free and open to all ages, beginning at 6 pm. 

CIBA Cemetery Tour
Bicyclists will delight in this fun annual cemetery tour of Morgan County on July 7. Sag stops are at area cemeteries and there are three route lengths to accommodate all levels. The ride is free and routes range from flat to rolling hills. Riders will leave from the Morgan County Courthouse at 8 am.

Drink at the Creek Concert
This month's concert at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery features An Innocent Band, a fun Billy Joel tribute band that will have you singing along in no time! Music starts at 5 pm on Saturday, July 7.As always, there is no admission charge and all ages are welcome. There is a $10 per vehicle parking fee.

Mr. Mystic Magic Show
The Main Street Stage, adjacent to Tom Fiddlery, presents the Mr. Mystic Magic Show on Saturday, July 7. This show is magical fun for all ages and tickets are only $5 per person! There will be two shows - the early show at 6 pm with dinner available from an area restaurant, and the late show at 8 pm. 

Rob Amrhein 
Enjoy live music at Ralph and Ava's Cafe in downtown Mooresville on July 7 featuring Rob Amrhein. Rob is a guitarist and singer that plays a wide variety of popular songs. Music begins at 7 pm and the cafe's full menu will be available along with one of the area's best selection of craft beer. 

No Cover Songwriters Showcase
Held each month at Zydeco's Cajun, the No Cover Songwriter's Showcase features three talented local or regional singer/songwriters each month. The event takes place on the 2nd Thursday of the month (July 12 this month) from 5-8 pm. The full menu is available at Zydeco's during the event so you can enjoy dinner and drinks along with original tunes. 

Artie Fest
The annual Artie Fest is fun for all ages in downtown Martinsville. Activities include the ArtieFest 5K, a car show, craft show, live music, food vendors, a beer and wine tent and so much more. On Friday, July 13, enjoy live music from Jake Dodds and Saturday's events will culminate with Cinema on the Square, featuring The Lion King.  

Jennie Devoe at Bicentennial Park
A long-time regional favorite, Jennie Devoe will bring her unique blend of Blues and Indie music to downtown Mooresville as part of the Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series on July 14. Music begins at 7 pm and admission is free. Don't forget your lawn chairs or blankets!

Daytime Observatory Hours
Come explore the historic Link Observatory during daylight hours! It's always fun to visit at night for observation, but don't miss the chance to check out this amazing structure and the grounds during the day and learn more about its history. Daytime Observatory hours will be Thursday, July 19 from 9 am to 3 pm. 

CPR...We Ain't A Band
They may not want to call themselves a band, but CPR will be on hand with musical entertainment at Ralph and Ava's Cafe on July 21. Enjoy the music along with a full menu at the popular eatery and one of the area's best selections of local and regional craft beer. 

Wyatt Massingille
Enjoy the sounds of up and coming young singer Wyatt Massingille at The Main Street Stage, adjacent to Tom Fiddlery, on July 21. At only 17 years old, Wyatt has a traditional country style featuring classic songs from Conway Twitty, George Jones, John Conlee and more. Two shows available - 6 pm with dinner available from 21 North Eatery and Cellar and 8 pm. Tickets are $15 per person. 

Doug Henthorn at Willowfield Lavender Farm
Join Willowfield Lavender Farm for the second performance of their Summer Concert Series on July 21 at 6 pm. Enjoy the music of Doug Henthorn along with wine from nearby Mallow Run Winery, and signature lavender teas and sweets as you relax amid the lavender. Bring blankets, lawn chairs or even a picnic! Only $5 per person; kids 12 and under are free. 

Link Observatory LinkLive Presentation
Each month, learn something new about the world we live in through Link Observatory's LinkLive Space Science Presentation at the Mooresville Public Library. There's a different topic each month and shuttle service to the Observatory immediately after the presentation for telescope viewing. This month's presentation is July 21 and, as always, is free to the public. 

Y Fun Run Series visits Jimmy Nash Park
This fun series of free runs from the Barbara B Jordan YMCA will take you all around Morgan County, visiting a different location each month. July's location is Jimmy Nash Park in Martinsville, beginning at 6 pm on July 25. This series of casual run/walk events is open to all. 

Joe Nichols and Sara Evans in Concert
Kick off the Morgan County Fair in style this year with country superstars Joe Nichols and Sara Evans on Friday, July 27! The show will open with regional favorites Bigg Country and VIP packages are available. Don't miss this opportunity to see big names in a small town setting. Tickets available online.  

Morgan County Fair 
One of our very favorite weeks of the entire year, Fair Week means great food, live entertainment, carnival rides and farm animals - in other words, good old fashioned fun for all ages! Stop by to experience a true county fair, and don't forget to try the homemade donuts and ice cream. The Fair runs July 27 through August 4. 

The Renner French Band at Bicentennial Park
On July 28, Bicentennial Park's Summer Concert Series will host The Renner French Band in downtown Mooresville. Enjoy the pop and folk sounds of this fun group beginning at 7 pm. Admission is free. Don't forget your lawn chairs or blankets! 

Rock 'N Roll Cowboys
The Main Street Stage at Tom Fiddlery presents the Rock 'N Roll Cowboys in concert on July 28. There are two show times, the early show at 6 pm with dinner available from a local restaurant, and the late show at 8 pm. Tickets are $15 per person.
