Spring is finally arriving in Morgan County! We can't wait for warm, sunny days, dogwood and redbud trees in bloom and more time outside. Check out this list of our favorite signs of spring in the area, and be sure you make some fun plans for spring break! It's the perfect season for some hiking - there's nothing like watching nature awaken from its winter sleep. Make sure you're prepared to hit the trails with your mud boots - spring can be messy out in the forest. Get out and enjoy everything that early springtime in Morgan County has to offer - to help, here's a handy list of upcoming events: 

Mardi Gras Celebration
Zydeco's welcomes you to celebrate Mardi Gras with them on March 1 and 2. There will be musicians on stage, a magician on the floor and food and drink specials galore! Experience the fun of Mardi Gras, without the trip to Louisiana! Costumes are strongly encouraged. 

Grand Opening on the Farm
We are so excited to welcome the Marshmallow Monkey to Morgan County! Come help them celebrate with a Grand Opening on the Farm, March 1 and 2, from 10 am to 4 pm. Their new location is located just outside Martinsville on State Road 252, just down the road from Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery & Distillery! 

Gateway Fun Run/Walk
Join the Knobstone Trail Hiking Association for the second annual Gateway Fun Run/Walk at Jimmy Nash Park in Martinsville on Saturday, March 2. Proceeds from the event will help the group as they work toward completion of the 150-mile Knobstone Trail. Once complete, Martinsville will be the northern gateway to the trail that will travel south all the way to the Ohio River! 

Live Music: Carrollton
The nationally-touring contemporary Christian band Carrollton, named for their small town in Kentucky, will perform at Mt. Gilead Church in Mooresville on March 2. They'll be sharing music of truth and hope conceived from the struggles and experience they've encountered along their own journey. Group rates are available. Music begins at 7:30 pm.

Live Music: Steve Fulton
Join Cedar Creek Winery as they welcome musician Steve Fulton to their Sunday afternoon concert lineup. Steve will perform on March 3, beginning at 2 pm. This weekly music series is free. 

Public Viewing at Link Observatory
Join the experts at Link Observatory Space Science Institute for their monthly observation night on the first Saturday of the month. You'll be able to explore the observatory, view the skies through the large telescope and get all your questions answered! 

2nd Friday Open Studio Night
This month's Open Studios Night at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana will feature the Msd of Martinsville's Youth Art Exhibit as well as time to mingle with the facility's many resident artists. Stop by on March 8 to see amazing works from local artists - both young and old! 

Basics of Metal Clay Workshop
Join jeweler Pam Hurst at The Sterling Butterfly for this fun workshop on March 9. You'll learn the basics of working with metal clay and go home with your own unique and beautiful creation! Class size is limited, so reserve your space early. Lunch and all materials are included in the class fee. No experience needed! 

Frida & Sangria Workshop
On March 9, at 6 pm, join Art Sanctuary resident artist Mika Power for a fun evening of creativity. You'll create art inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Spaces are limited to 20 participants. All supplies (and snacks) are included and no experience is necessary. 

Live Music: The 78s
Cedar Creek Winery welcomes The 78's to their weekly Sunday live music series. Using acoustic instruments and loop technology to present a wide variety of covers and original, The 78s may be small, but their sound is BIG! Their performance will be upbeat and full of smiles - music begins at 2 pm on March 10.

No Cover Songwriters Showcase
Enjoy an evening of live music and great food at Zydeco's Cajun in Mooresville. On the second Thursday of each month, entertainment is provided by the No Cover Songwriters Showcase, which highlights local and regional singer songwriters. Music starts at 7 pm!

Maple Syrup Camp  ***This event has been CANCELED.***
Bradford Woods knows how to welcome spring... with maple syrup camp, of course! This fun event is especially for families and there are both day camp and overnight options, March 15-16. Your kids will love this fun (and educational) event in one of the most iconic locations in all of Morgan County! 

De Lyn Jewelry Sweet 16 Party
Join De Lyn Jewelry on the square in Martinsville for this fun Sweet 16 Anniversary event! On Saturday, March 16 from 10 am to 2 pm you can check out their newly renovated store space and take advantage of great anniversary deals as they celebrate 16 years in business. 

Pre-St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Celebrate the eve of St. Patrick's Day with 21 North on the square in Martinsville. This pre-holiday celebration will include green beer, shamrock cocktails, fun dinner specials and live music with Indiana musician Andrew Pittman. Dinner and drink specials start at 6 pm; music begins at 7 pm. 

Link Observatory's LinkLive Presentation
Link Observatory Space Science Institute seeks to share the wonders of the universe in ways that inspire, excite, challenge and educate. Their LinkLive presentations take place at the Mooresville Public Library, followed by open observation at the Observatory (take the shuttle so you can discuss your experience on the way back to the library). This month's program is on March 16.

One of the sure signs of spring, GardenFest will take place on Saturday March 23 from 9 am to 3 pm. Organized by the Morgan County Master Gardeners, this event features fun vendors, educational information about gardening, free seeds and beautiful pansies for sale to start your gardening season off right. Educational presentations also qualify for Indiana Master Gardener credits! 

Live Music: Chicken Bone Acoustic
Cedar Creek Winery welcomes Chicken Bone Acoustic on Saturday, March 23. This fun acoustic trio is made up of members of the popular regional band Tastes Like Chicken! They'll be playing everything from A to Z in acoustic hits both old and new. Music begins at 4 pm.

Live Music: Phil Pierle
Indianapolis area native Phil Pierle, also the lead singer for the Woomblies, will perform solo at Cedar Creek Winery on March 24. Phil has been playing bars, concert halls and festivals all over the Midwest and Canada since the early 80s and cites The Beatles and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young as his musical influences. Music starts at 2 pm. 

Live Music: Frank Bradford
On Sunday, March 31, Cedar Creek Winery welcomes Frank Bradford, one of Indiana's finest solo artists to perform a fun mix of classic rock to modern pop. Enjoy your favorites from Tom Petty, the Eagles, Aerosmith, John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and more! Music starts at 2 pm.
