Who's ready for spring!? We can't wait for warm, sunny days, dogwood and redbud trees in bloom and more time spent outside...and Spring Break, of course!  It's the perfect season for some hiking - there's nothing like watching nature awaken from its winter sleep. Make sure you're prepared to hit the trails with your mud boots - spring can be messy out in the forest (or opt for less messy paved trails). Get out and enjoy everything that early springtime in Morgan County has to offer. To help get you started here's a handy list of upcoming events in March, but check back as we'll be adding new events to our calendar throughout the month.  

 

Yoga & Meditation for Absolute Beginners - Tuesdays in March

Join the Morgan County Public Library at their main branch in Martinsville on  Tuesdays in March for a beginning yoga and meditation class, beginning at 6:30 pm. Don't worry - this class is specifically for absolute beginners with gentle stretching and an introductory meditation practice. 

Taps on the Square - Every Friday

Join the Martinsville American Legion Riders and Spirit of '45 each and every Friday evening in Downtown Martinsville for Taps on the Square, a local tradition honoring American heroes. Names are read beginning around 6:50 pm with echoing Taps from live buglers at the seventh bell. Join them on the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn under the flags. 

Live Music at Hoosier Que - Every Saturday

Hoosier Que at Foxcliff Golf Club presents live music from various artists on most Saturday evenings, beginning at 7 pm. Enjoy great food, drinks and entertainment in a casual, welcoming setting! Hoosier Que is known for a large selection of both craft beer and bourbons. All ages welcome.

A Tribute to Patsy Cline & Tammy Wynette - Mar. 1-3

Back by popular demand, musical performer Ginny Spillman reprises her tribute to Classic Country Music stars Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette at The Depot Theater in Martinsville! Brought to you by the Martinsville Arts Council, this popular show is always a hit. Performances will be March 1 and 2 at 7:30 pm and March 3 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 per person.

Maple Syrup Day - Mar. 2

Bradford Woods knows how to welcome spring... with fresh maple syrup, of course! Their annual Maple Syrup Day event is free and open to the public. You'll see how sap is collected and boiled down into sweet maple syrup, enjoy kids' activities and tours of the grounds. Your kids will love this fun (and educational) event in one of the most iconic locations in all of Morgan County! Be sure to check out the Silent Auction while you're there. 

Live Music: Ben Tatum - Mar. 2 

Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company will welcome musician Ben Tatum on Saturday, March 2 for live music beginning at 4 pm in the Taproom. This is a casual, free performance and all ages are welcome. Taproom is adjacent to the onsite eatery, which will also be open - we recommend the pretzel charcuterie (and pizza for the kids!). 

Speaker: Mooresville's Movie Mogul, Leon Adler - Mar. 2

Join the Mooresville Public Library on Saturday, March 2, at 2 pm for their monthly Mooresville Bicentennial Speaker Series, highlighting a different personality from Mooresville history each month. This month, learn about Leon Adler, Mooresville's very own movie mogul! This presentation is open to all ages; no registration required. 

Speaker: History of Link Observatory - Mar. 2

The Mooresville Public Library presents the History of Link Observatory on Saturday, March 2, beginning at 6 pm. This local hidden gem combines area history, astronomy and spring flowers! This is the perfect way to get the scoop before April's Total Solar Eclipse and this year's blooming Daffodil Gardens on the grounds of the observatory. Speaker is a member of the Indiana Astronomical Society. 

Live Music: EZY Livin' Band - Mar. 2

Join the Mooresville Eagles at 8 pm on Saturday, March 2 for live music from the EZY Livin' Band. This show is open to the public. Ages 21+ only. 

Live Music: GrooveTown Indy - Mar. 2

Head out to Route 67 Bar & Grill in Mooresville for live music from GrooveTown Indy on Saturday, March 2. Music begins at 9 pm. $5 cover charge, if applicable. Ages 21+ only. 

Live Music: The 78s - Mar. 3

Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company will welcome The 78s on Sunday, March 3 for live music beginning at 2 pm in the Taproom. This is a casual, free performance and all ages are welcome. Taproom is adjacent to the onsite eatery, which will also be open - we recommend the pretzel charcuterie (and pizza for the kids!).

Speaker: Steve Reeder on Monrovia History - Mar. 5

The Morgan County History Center & Museum invites you to join them at 6:30 pm on March 5 for a special presentation on the history of Monrovia from local historian Steve Reeder. Presentation will be held at the Monrovia Elementary School and all ages are welcome.

The Curiosity of a Total Solar Eclipse - Mar. 6

Morgan County Parks and Recreation invites you to come out to the Old Wilbur Schoolhouse, west of Martinsville, on Wednesday evening, March 6, for a presentation about the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse, beginning at 6:30 pm. All ages are welcome. 

Mooresville 200 Wine & Canvas - Mar. 7

On Thursday, March 7, the Mooresville 200 Committee invites you to come help celebrate the town's Bicentennial with a fun wine and canvas event! The event will be held at 5 East in downtown Mooresville, beginning at 5:30 pm. Cost is $30 per person and includes all materials needed and instruction.

Exhibition Opening, Eclipse Program, Open Studios & Open Mic Night - Mar. 8

Friday, March 8 will be a big night at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana! Stop by to enjoy the opening night of a new exhibition featuring art with a celestial theme, in honor of the upcoming eclipse. Exhibit opens at 6 pm. Stay for a special speaker to learn more about the upcoming solar eclipse, beginning at 7 pm, plus resident artists will be in their studios to chat about their work. Don't forget to stop in the lower gallery for Open Mic Night, hosted by Billy Owens! 

Morgantown FD Spring Fish Fry - Mar. 8

The Morgantown Fire Department will host their Spring Fish Fry on Friday, March 8. They'll start serving at 4 pm and continue until 8 pm (or when they run out if that happens first). The fish fry takes place at the Morgantown Fire Department on N. Highland Street where seating is available. Carry out also available. 

Sportsman's Dinner - Mar. 8

Enjoy at hearty meal and program at the annual Sportsman's Dinner at the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle on March 8, beginning at 6 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm). All are welcome. Register online by March 4th. Guest speaker will be Chad Shearer of Shoot Straight TV. Cost is $12 for ages 12+ and $6 for ages 6-11.

Custom Book Embroidery - Mar. 10

Fables and Fairy Tales, downtown Martinsville's independent book shop, presents a unique and fun class featuring Custom Book Embroidery. That's right - you'll start with a favorite paperback, then you'll create your very own embroidered keepsake book! You must purchase the paperback used for the class from the store on the day of the class - special orders can be made, but they need two weeks notice to ensure they have it in stock. Class is led by an instructor and all materials other than the book are included in the class fee of $35 per person. 

MHS Dance Marathon Cookies & Canvas - Mar. 10

Come support the Martinsville High School Dance Marathon committee - this group works hard throughout the year to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children. On Sunday, March 10, they'll host a cookies and canvas event at the Martinsville High School cafeteria, beginning at 1 pm. This class is open to all ages and will be led by an instructor. Class fee is $35 per person.  

Cocktails & Canvas at Frenchy's Pub - Mar. 13

Frenchy's Pub in Morgantown will host another fun Cocktails and Canvas event on Tuesday, March 13. Class begins at 7 pm and tickets are available online. Class fee of $25 includes all materials, instruction and one cocktail to enjoy! Ages 21+ only. 

Morgan County GardenFest - Mar. 16

One of the sure signs of spring, GardenFest 2024 will take place on Saturday March 16 from 9 am to 3 pm. Organized by the Morgan County Master Gardeners, this event features fun vendors, educational information about gardening, free seeds and beautiful pansies for sale to start your gardening season off right. Educational presentations also qualify for Indiana Master Gardener credits!  This year's event is in a brand new location at Bell Intermediate Academy, located on Columbus Street in Martinsville. 

No Way Out 40 - Mar. 16

Paragon Speedway is set to kick off their 2024 season with the No Way Out 40 on Saturday, March 16. This event will feature 410 Sprints and Hornets. Gates open at 1 pm; hot laps begin at 4 pm; racing at 5 pm. Special event pricing may apply. Pit passes available. (See our calendar for the rest of this year's racing season.)

Join Frenchy's Pub in Morgantown for live music on Saturday, March 16. Performing will be Gene Fugate. Music begins at 8 pm. Ages 21+ only. 

Live Music: Michael Norris - Mar. 16

Head for Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company for live music from Michael Norris on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 6 pm. This is a casual, free performance and all ages are welcome. It's the perfect way to relax at the end of the week with fun tunes and handcrafted local beverages. Performance take place in the Taproom, which is adjacent to the winery and eatery. 

Happy St. Patrick's Day! - Mar. 17

Watch for St. Patrick's Day specials from area restaurants and bars as the holiday gets closer, and keep an eye on the Martinsville Candy Kitchen's Facebook page for public pour times to watch them make clover shaped candy canes! 

Speaker: Solar Eclipse - Mar. 18

The Morgan County Public Library will host a special speaker on Monday, March 18, beginning at 7 pm. This informational session will make sure you know what to expect from the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse on April 8. Questions are welcome at the conclusion of the program and all attendees will receive a free pair of eclipse glasses! 

Live Music: Paradise City - Mar. 23

Route 67 Bar & Grill will welcome Paradise City to their stage on Saturday, March 23. Music begins at 9 pm. Ages 21+ only. 

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt - Mar. 24

The YMCA of Morgan County will host their annual Underwater Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, March 24 in the pool at the YMCA in Martinsville. Register in advance - this event fills up fast! Cost is $5 per child and there area four age groups. 

Speaker: Total Solar Eclipse - Mar. 28

Fables & Fairy Tails will host Sheila Blake, the chair of the Science Department at Martinsville High School, for an informational session on the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse. Join them on Thursday, March 28, beginning at 6 pm. No admission is charged for this event, but attendees are asked to claim a free ticket, as space is limited. The talk will be targeted for grades 6-12, but all ages are welcome. 

Jimmy Nash City Park Easter Egg Hunt - Mar. 28

Martinsville City Parks will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, March 28 at Jimmy Nash City Park. The younger set (ages 2-12) should gather at 2 pm at the park for egg hunting fun. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free event. Egg hunt will take place in the grassy field between the Park Office and the Pool House. 

Live Music: Bomar & Ritter - Mar. 29

Join Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company on Friday, March 29 for live music from Bomar & Ritter. Indulge in your favorite locally-crafted beverages and don't forget about their amazing eatery menu as well! This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. Music starts at 6:30 pm.

Easter Egg Hunt at The Creek - Mar. 30

Come on out to Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company on Saturday, March 30 for an Easter Egg Hunt! The fun begins at 2 pm with ages 5 and under, followed by ages 6-10 at 3 pm and ages 11-13 at 4 pm. There will also be an adult egg hunt, with special discount eggs, while they last! The onsite eatery will be open and is the perfect place for lunch or dinner, and don't forge to take advantage of the beautiful property for your family Easter photos!  

Harold Ringer Memorial Easter Egg Hunt - Mar. 30

Join the Gregg Township Fire Department in Monrovia for the annual Harold Ringer Memorial Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, beginning at 11:30 am. Open to ages 0-12. Each age group will have prizes as well as a raffle. The Easter Bunny will be on site, arriving via fire truck! 

LEGO Showcase - Mar. 30

Come Celebrate LEGO at the Main Branch of the Morgan County Public Library! Bring your MOC (MOC stands for "my own creation" in Lego-speak) or a built set to show off, or just stop by to admire everyone's creations and get new ideas. Event takes place at 10 am on Saturday, March 30.

Mooresville Community Easter Egg Hunt - Mar. 30

Mooresville's annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 30 at Pioneer Park. Meet at the baseball diamonds ready for fun at 11 am. Ages 10 and under will be divided into four groups. Please bring your own basket. Sponsored by Carpenter Realtors.
