April brings warmer days, flowers in bloom and fun events to Morgan County! This time of year is perfect for getting back outside and enjoying a hiking trail or two, or just wandering around town for the afternoon, exploring new shops and old favorites. Be sure to hit up one of our favorite ice cream spots to celebrate the warmer temperatures. Welcome, spring!

Here are the upcoming events you'll need on your calendar to enjoy the season in Morgan County, but be sure to check our event calendar, as additional events will be added there throughout the month as we receive information on them.... and don't forget about the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse! (We've listed eclipse events here, but not camping/parking locations, so see our eclipse page for that info.)

Cruise-in on the Square - Every Thursday
One of our favorite area traditions is set to return to the downtown courthouse square in Martinsville on Thursdays, beginning in April. Join unique and historic car owners from around the area as they gather on the square each Thursday, beginning at 5 pm for the Cruise-in on the Square. This creates a fun and festive atmosphere downtown, perfect for enjoying dinner at one of several downtown eateries, browsing local shops and of course, checking out all the cool cars! 

Taps on the Square - Every Friday
Join the Martinsville American Legion Riders and Spirit of '45 each and every Friday evening in Downtown Martinsville for Taps on the Square, a local tradition honoring American heroes. Names are read beginning around 6:50 pm with echoing Taps from live buglers at the seventh bell. Join them on the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn under the flags. 

Link Observatory & Daffodil Gardens Open - Saturdays & Sundays in April
Learn more about the historic Goethe Link Observatory and Helen Link's Daffodils, located just off State Road 67 between Martinsville and Mooresville. Both Dr. Links were influential in their chosen health care professions and their secondary studies in astronomy and botany, respectively. The daffodil gardens are open to visitors on weekends in April, from 10 am to 4 pm, courtesy of the Indiana Daffodil Society and the Morgan County Master Gardeners. The observatory itself will also be open for tours, courtesy of the Indiana Astronomical Society. 

Eclipse Art Exhibition - Ongoing through April 9
The Art Sanctuary of Indiana is hosting an eclipse themed art exhibition that is ongoing through April 9. Stop by to see the work of local artists, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through the Total Solar Eclipse. Several works are themed around Van Gogh's A Starry Night, but the show features all types of celestial themed artworks. 

Total E-glimpse of Martinsville - Ongoing through April 12
Downtown Martinsville's Main Street organization, Rediscover Martinsville, invites you to learn more about the downtown historic district and beyond with a scavenger hunt featuring local, independent businesses. This scavenger hunt is ongoing through April 12, and scavenger hunt forms can be picked up at The Sterling Butterfly, the Martinsville Candy Kitchen and the Morgan County Visitors Center inside The Main Connection. One winner from completed entries will be chosen at random to receive a $100 gift card! 

Frenchy's Pub Eclipse Party - April 4-8
Frenchy's Pub in Morgantown will host a multi-day eclipse party with fun food and drink specials from April 4-8. Join them for the fun! Frenchy's Pub is located in downtown Morgantown, which is right on the line of totality for the upcoming solar eclipse and will have more than four minutes of totality on April 8. 

Live Music: Elias Gomez - April 5
Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will host live music from Elias Gomez on Friday, April 5. Music begins at 6:30 pm. Food and drink available on site from Cedar Creek Eatery. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Mooresville Solar Eclipse Festival - April 6-8
Mooresville's eclipse celebration will feature a three day street fair with a wide variety of vendor booths, food trucks and more. Shuttles will be available to help visitors navigate between Downtown Mooresville, Pioneer Park and other parking locations. Street Fair vendors and food trucks will be located downtown, Pioneer Park will host a kids zone, and more! Don't miss live music scheduled at both Bicentennial Park downtown and at Pioneer Park. Cook & Bell and The Woomblies will perform at Pioneer Park on Saturday, beginning at 6 pm and Pink Floyd Tribute Band Atom Heart Mother will perform at Bicentennial Park on Monday at 3:30 pm. 

Moonshadow Over Martinsville - April 6-8
The Martinsville Chamber of Commerce invites you to join them for three days of fun at the Downtown Martinsville performance venue during Moonshadow Over Martinsville! There will be a variety of fun games and activities available including inflatables, giant Jenga, Connect Four, checkers, corn hole and more! Live entertainment will take place throughout the weekend, with a poetry event, live music and more! Two for the Show will perform April 6, beginning at 1 pm; Blue Eyes & Grey Skies will perform at 3 pm on Sunday; enjoy the eclipse with a special eclipse playlist, trivia and science info from DJ Bryan Jackson on Monday! 

Sunrise Hike - April 6
Join Martinsville Parks and Recreation for a sunrise hike at Jimmy Nash Park on Saturday, April 6. Meet up at the park at 7 am. This event is free and open to all ages. No registration required. 

Big Green Egg Cookout - April 6
Ace Hardware, located between Burton Lane and State Road 39, will host a Big Green Egg Cookout at their location on Saturday, April 6. These cookouts are a fundraiser for local non-profit organization Stability First and feature delicious brats, pork burgers, pulled port, grilled cheese with pork and hotdogs, along with chili, cooked on the iconic Big Green Eggs. They'll be serving beginning at 11 am, until 2 pm (unless they sell out!). 

Bounce the Day Away - April 6
Join Martinsville Parks and Recreation for a fun day of bounce houses and fun at Jimmy Nash Park on Sunday, April 7. Bounce all day long - from 11 am to 3 pm - for only $10 per wristband! The park will also have food trucks and additional activities on site during the eclipse weekend. 

Class: Celestial Pendant - April 6
Join local artist Sally Hedges to create your very own celestial pendant on Saturday, April 6 at 1 pm. The class will take place at The Art Sanctuary of Indiana. Advance registration is required as space is limited, so call or text 765-792-0328 to reserve your space! Cost is $40 and includes all materials and instruction. 

Grand Valley Craft & Vendor Fair - April 6
Grand Valley Health and Rehab will host a spring craft and vendor fair on Saturday, April 6 featuring a wide variety of vendors. Stop by between 10 am and 2 p m to shop locally crafted arts, crafts, jewelry, plus direct sales! Located on Grand Valley Boulevard. 

Classes: Solar Eclipse at The Creek - April 6-8
Create your own solar eclipse themed masterpiece at Cedar Creek Winery. The experts from Tipsy Acrylics will be on site at the winery with classes scheduled on Saturday, April 6 at 2 pm, Sunday, April 7 at 4 pm and Monday, April 8 at Noon. These instructor-led classes will help you create an eclipse themed souvenir. Sign up online at tipsyacrylics.com. 

Speaker: Photographing the Solar Eclipse - April 6
The Mooresville Public Library will host a speaker on photographic the solar eclipse on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 6 pm. The speaker, from the Indiana Astronomical Society, will discuss how to safely photograph the celestial event, plus tips and tricks to ensure you get amazing shots of this once in a lifetime phenomenon. All ages welcome; no registration required. 

Jimmy Nash Craft Fair - April 6
Martinsville Parks and Recreation invites you to the Jimmy Nash Craft fair on Saturday, April 6, from 9 am to 3 pm. Shop a wide variety of booths from local artisans and crafters with handmade items such as art, jewelry, decor items, fiber arts and more! Food and drink will be available on site. 

Live Music: The Filter Kings & Rose O'Neal - April 6
The City of Martinsville and RD Productions will present a special concert on the Saturday of eclipse weekend. Join them at the downtown performance venue at the corner of Jefferson and Pike Streets, for music from The Filter Kings, with special opening act Rose O'Neal! Food and drink will be available on site. Music begins at 5 pm.

Live Music: Evan Grubb - April 6
Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will host live music from Evan Grubbs on Saturday, April 6. Music begins at 4 pm. Food and drink available on site from Cedar Creek Eatery. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

All Ages Eclipse Glow Party - April 6
Martinsville Parks and Recreation will host a Glow Party at Jimmy Nash City Park to celebrate the upcoming Solar Eclipse! The fun begins at 8 pm with music, dancing, glow in the dark games, rock painting, neon chalk art and more! Admission is only $5 per person and all ages are welcome. 

Live Music: 8 Bit Audio - April 6
Hoosier Que at Foxcliff Golf Club presents live music from 8 Bit Audio on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 7 pm. Enjoy great food, drinks and entertainment in a casual, welcoming setting! Hoosier Que is known for a large selection of both craft beer and bourbons. All ages welcome.

Live Music: Jamie Nichole - April 6
Black Dog Brewing Company will welcome local performer Jamie Nichole to the brewery for an evening of live music on Saturday, April 6. Stop by between 7 and 9 pm to enjoy great music, great food and great beer. 

Live Music: The Burgs - April 6
Join Trackside Bar & Grill in in Paragon for live music from The Burgs on Saturday, April 6. Music starts at 8 pm. 

21+ Eclipse Glow Party - April 6
Black Dog Brewing Company will host a Glow Party to get you in the proper celebratory frame of mind for the Total Solar Eclipse! Join them on the Saturday before the eclipse, April 6, beginning at 9:30 pm for great local beer, food and fun!

Hair of the Dog Brunch - April 7
After you party the night away on the 6th, head back to Black Dog Brewing Company on Sunday, April 7, for their Hair of the Dog Brunch, form 11 am to 1 pm. Family seating area available. 

Light up the Dark Community Fellowship Day - April 7 
Life Point Community Church of the Nazarene, located on Indiana Street in Mooresville, will host a community fellowship day featuring outdoor community services and performances throughout the day form local worship teams. Bring your own seating and enjoy the whole day! Activities begin at 10:30 am. Free entry and parking. 

Eclipse Weekend Community Worship Service - April 7
There will be a community-wide ecumenical worship service at Pioneer Park for those visitors in the area for the eclipse who would like to join residents on Sunday, April 7. The Mooresville church community invites one and all to join them at 9:30 am, at the park stage. 

Chicken Noodle Dinner - April 7
The Mooresville First United Methodist Church invites eclipse visitors to join them on Sunday, April 7 for a Chicken Noodle Dinner. Located just across the street from Pioneer Park, the Mooresville FUMC will be serving up a homecooked meal featuring chicken and noodles, plus sides from 11 am until 3 pm. Cost is $10 per person. The Mooresville FUMC is on the shuttle route from downtown to Pioneer Park. 

The Hidden Sun Poetry Event - April 7
Join Indiana's first ever state poet laureate, Joyce Brinkman, in experiencing the Total Solar Eclipse through poetry and imagery in the main gallery at The Art Sanctuary of Indiana. On Sunday, April 7 at 2 pm, enjoy a literary presentation by Brick Street Poetry, and view the eclipse themed exhibition in the gallery featuring works from local artists. This is a free event and all ages are welcome. 

Eclipse Weekend Music Bingo - April 7
Black Dog Brewing Company will host a special eclipse themed music bingo event on Sunday, April 7, with games beginning at 6:30 pm. Enjoy great beer and food onsite as you play. 

Live Music: Two for the Show & Michael Norris - April 7
Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will host live music from Michael Norris and Two for the Show on Sunday, April 7. Performances begin at 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm, respectively. Food and drink available on site from Cedar Creek Eatery. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Free Outdoor Movie: Space Jam New Legacy - April 7
Martinsville Parks and Recreation invites you to join them on Sunday evening, April 7 for a free outdoor movie presentation. A screening of Space Jam New Legacy will take place at the downtown performance venue at Jefferson and Pike Streets, beginning at 8:30 pm. Popcorn, candy and beverages will be available on site. 

Eclipse at the Art Studio - April 8
Morgan County artist Lynn Medsker invites a limited number of participants to come enjoy the eclipse at her studio just west of Martinsville. Far enough from town to avoid street lights during totality, Lynn's studio and property will be open to pre-registered participants from 9 am to 4 pm to view the eclipse, create your own painting or jewelry, picnic, and socialize. Limited space available, so register early! Bring your camera and your own picnic lunch (water, refrigerator and microwave available on site.)

For Bare Feet Sock Sale & Eclipse Viewing - April 8
For Bare Feet, an industry leading sock retailer and distributor based in Martinsville invites you to their sock "yard sale" and eclipse viewing event on April 8. Their grounds will be open from 9 am to 4 pm on the day of the eclipse with free parking and a designated grassy viewing area. Bring your own seating. The sock sale will feature surplus discontinued items, blank sock multipacks and limited edition commemorative solar eclipse socks. Sale begins at 9 am, viewing begins at Noon. 

Foxcliff Golf Club Solar Eclipse Scramble - April 8 
Foxcliff Golf Club will host a special solar eclipse golf scramble on April 8. Enjoy golf in the morning, then stay for lunch and eclipse viewing after the game! The fun begins at 10 am. Cost is $25 per person. Lunch is on your own at Hoosier Que, located on site at the clubhouse. 

Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at The Creek - April 8
Cedar Creek Winery, Brewing Company and Distillery will host a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party on Monday, April 8, beginning at 11 am. In addition to the beautiful grounds, onsite winery, brewery and distillery, attendees will enjoy a wide variety of local vendors (20+) featuring handmade items and more, plus live music from Michael McCartney. Limited on site camping is available in advance, but there is no charge to visit for the day. Please RSVP so they have enough eclipse glasses for all attendees! 

Total Solar Eclipse at The Track - April 8
Paragon Speedway will host a viewing event at the track on Monday, April 8 for the Total Solar Eclipse. Paragon is located near the center line of totality, with approximately four minutes of totality expected. Sit in the grandstands and enjoy this once in a lifetime event, far enough away from towns and cities to really experience the darkness of totality. Admission is $10 per person and includes viewing glasses. Parking is free. Concessions available on site. 

Eclipse at Eagle Pines Golf Club - April 8
Calling all golfers to enjoy a day of fun at Eagle Pines Golf Club! Limited tee times are available, so reserve yours early! All tee times on eclipse day will include a picnic lunch, eclipse glasses and a full round of golf. Available 9 am to 3:30 pm. 

Experience the Eclipse at MPL - April 8
The Mooresville Public Library will have a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and games available on eclipse day, They'll also be live streaming from NASA, beginning at 11 am. Food  trucks and viewing space will be available on site. Free event, all ages welcome. 

Solar Eclipse Celebration with Indiana Weather Network - April 8
Join the Indiana Weather Network and local media group Porch Time for a day of fun at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. View the eclipse, get informational updates on the science behind the event, enjoy music, food and fellowship throughout the day. Parking on eclipse day is free at the Morgan County Fairgrounds and a limited number of RV sites are available. . 

Open Mic Night - April 9
Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will host an Open Mic Night on Tuesday, April 9. Music begins at 6:30 pm, and don't miss dinner from Cedar Creek Eatery, located on site. This event is free and all ages are welcome.   

April Open Studios & Open Mic Night - April 12
The Art Sanctuary of Indiana will host their monthly open studios night throughout the building pm Friday, April 12. Browse working artist studios and talk with the resident artists, take in the current exhibition in the main gallery, then head downstairs to the lower gallery for Open Mic Night, hosted by local podcaster Billy Owens. Event begins at 6 pm. 

Dirt Track Racing; Ultimate Super Late Model Series - April 13
Join Paragon Speedway for another great night of dirt track racing on Saturday, April 13. The night's feature will be the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. Grandstands open at 2 pm for seating. Special event admission rates may apply. Pit passes available.  

Live Music: CPR Revival - April 13
Join Hoosier Que at Foxcliff Golf Club for live music from CPR Revival on Saturday, April 13. Music begins at 7 pm, and all ages are welcome. Hoosier Que has what is probably the greatest bourbon selection in the state of Indiana, along with great BBQ, pizza and more, so come check it out!  

Speaker: Mooresville's Radio Musician, Ruth Comer - April 13
Each month this year, the Mooresville Public Library will feature a speaker highlighting a famous Mooresvillian as part of the community's ongoing Bicentennial Celebration. This month's featured Mooresvillian is Ruth Comer, who was a nationally-known radio radio musician. Program begins at 2 pm. All ages welcome; no registration required. 

Live Music: Ruben Guthrie - April 14
Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will host live music from Ruben Guthrie on Sunday, April 14. Music begins at  2 pm. Food and drink available on site from Cedar Creek Eatery. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Sunset Hike - April 18
Join Martinsville Parks and Recreation for a sunset hike at Jimmy Nash City Park on Thursday, April 18. Advance registration is appreciated. This is a free event and all ages are welcome to participate.

The 39 Steps! - April 19-22
Martinsville High School's Thespian Society presents The 39 Steps! Mix together a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have this intriguing, thrilling comedy - The 39 Steps! A cast of eight actors plays over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale. Performances will take place April 19, 20 and 22 at 7 pm and April 21 at 3 pm. Tickets available online or at the door. 

80s vs 90s House Party - April 20 
Cedar Creek Martinsville presents an 80s vs 90s House Party! Which was better - the 80s or the 90s? Dig our your neon or flannel and represent your favorite decade as this fun event featuring a DJ spinning all the best tunes from both decades! The fun begins at 6 pm on Saturday, April 20. 

Dirt Track Racing - April 20 
Join Paragon Speedway for another evening of fast paced dirt track racing on Saturday, April 20. Regularly scheduled racing is on tap this evening, so regular admission rates apply and kids age 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission! Pit passes also available. 

Live Music: Marvin Parish - April 20 
Enjoy live music at Hoosier Que on Saturday, April 20 at 7 pm. Marvin Parish will provide the live music to accompany your dinner or drinks. Hoosier Que is located at Foxcliff Golf Club in Martinsville. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Root Shoot Farm comes to the Bookstore - April 25 
Join Fables and Fairy Tales for a special event featuring Root Shoot Farm, located in Mooresville. They will be discussing basic plant care and seed starting. This event is geared toward the school age child, but all ages are welcome. Each participant must reserve a space so they can ensure enough supplies, so please reserve a free ticket in advance. Presentation begins at 6 pm.

Dirt Track Racing: Midwest Thunder 410s/MMSA - April 27 
Join Paragon Speedway for another great night of dirt track racing on Saturday, April 27. The night's feature will be the Midwest Thunder 410s/MMSA. Grandstands open at 2 pm for seating. Special event admission rates may apply. Pit passes available.  

Live Music: Cabin Row - April 27 
Enjoy live music with Cabin Row at the Mooresville Eagles Lodge on Saturday, April 27. Music begins at 7 pm. This show is open to the public. 

Live Music: Taylor Hernly - April 27 
Enjoy live music at Hoosier Que on Saturday, April 27 at 7 pm. Taylor Hernly will provide the live music to accompany your dinner or drinks. Hoosier Que is located at Foxcliff Golf Club in Martinsville. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Junk in the Trunk Community Yard Sale - April 27
Mooresville Parks and Recreation will host their annual Junk in the Trunk Community Yard Sale on Saturday, April 27. The sale will take place at Pioneer Park, from 9 am to 1 pm, in the parking lot adjacent to the Aquatic Center. Admission for shoppers is free! 

FFF Spring Purse Bingo - April 28
The Morgan County Fall Foliage Festival will host a Spring Purse Bingo event at Jones Crossing Banquet and Event Center in Mooresville on Sunday, April 28. Admission is $45 and includes lunch, a door prize ticket and 20 games of Purse Bingo! Cash bar available on site as well. Proceeds support the Fall Foliage Festival, which takes place each year in October.
