April brings warmer days, flowers in bloom and fun events to Morgan County! This time of year is perfect for getting back outside and enjoying a hiking trail or two, or just wandering around town for the afternoon, exploring new shops and old favorites. Be sure to hit up one of our favorite ice cream spots to celebrate the warmer temperatures. Welcome, spring!

Here are the upcoming events you'll need on your calendar to enjoy the season in Morgan County, but be sure to check our event calendar, as additional events will be added there throughout the month as we receive information on them.

Mondays - Pioneer Pathfinders Walk
This FREE Community Walk takes place each Monday at 9 am at Pioneer Park in Mooresville. All are welcome. Walk begins at Shelter # 2 and participants are welcome to walk whatever distance meets their level of ability and comfort.

Wednesdays - Karaoke at Main Street Monrovia
The Main Street Grill in Monrovia invites you to enjoy a weekly Karaoke night on Wednesdays. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. Choose a song to sing along, with friends or just listen to others perform. Hosted by Track to Tunes Entertainment and DJ Switch. 

Wednesdays - Martinsville in Motion City Walk
Meet in the Churches in Mission parking lot on West Pike Street each Wednesday at Noon for a FREE Community Walk. Options available for a 10, 20 or 30 minute walk through a peaceful neighborhood. Bring friends and make new friends while you take a Noon time break to uplift and energize your day! Movement is Medicine.

Wednesdays - Trivia at Brew Link Mooresville  
Join Naptown Trivia in the dining room at Brew Link Mooresville on Wednesdays at 7 pm. All ages are welcome, and gift cards are awarded to the evening's winners!

Thursdays - Martinsville Cruise-in on the Square 
One of our favorite area traditions is set to return to the downtown courthouse square in Martinsville on Thursdays, beginning in April. Join unique and historic car owners from around the area as they gather on the east side of the square each Thursday, beginning at 5 pm for the Cruise-in on the Square. Cars are welcome all along Jefferson Street, from Pike to Jackson Streets. This creates a fun and festive atmosphere downtown, perfect for enjoying dinner at one of several downtown eateries, browsing local shops and of course, checking out all the cool cars! 

Fridays - Taps on the Square
Each and every Friday the buglers of Bugles Across American and Indiana Spirit of '45 invite you to join them as they honor American heroes with Taps on the Square. This weekly local tradition has become an iconic part of Downtown Martinsville and takes place on the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn. Meet up beginning at 6:45 pm; Taps is played at the seventh bell (7 pm). 

Saturdays & Sundays - Link Observatory & Daffodil Gardens Open 
Learn more about the historic Goethe Link Observatory and Helen Link's Daffodils, located just off State Road 67 between Martinsville and Mooresville. Both Dr. Links were influential in their chosen health care professions and their secondary studies in astronomy and botany, respectively. The daffodil gardens are open to visitors on weekends in April, from 10 am to 4 pm, courtesy of the Indiana Daffodil Society and the Morgan County Master Gardeners. The observatory itself will also be open for tours, courtesy of the Indiana Astronomical Society. 

April 1 - Nature Night at Jimmy Nash City Park
Enjoy an evening in nature at Jimmy Nash City Park! Each Nature Night will have a different theme, and this kickoff event's theme is creating your own Nature Journal. Event begins at 6:30 pm and all ages are welcome. 

April 2 - Jimmy Nash City Park Easter Egg Hunts
Jimmy Nash City Park invites the kids out to this year's Easter Egg Hunts at the park! On April 2, kids ages 2-12 are invited out for egg hunting fun beginning at 6:30 pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free event and will take place in the grassy field between the Park Office and the Pool House. Then, the older kids (ages 13-17) are invited to come join a special Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 9 pm. This is also a free event, with the extra challenge of after-dark timing. 

April 3 - Morgantown Fire Dept. Spring Fish Fry
Join the Morgantown Fire Department for a fish fry on Friday, April 3, from at 11 am to 4 pm (or when they run out). The event takes place at the Morgantown Fire Department on N. Highland Street in Morgantown. Carry out also available. 

April 3 - Underwater Easter Egg Hunt
Join the YMCA for this fun annual underwater Easter egg hunt! This unique egg hunting experience is available to families who register in advance. Enjoy an evening of swimming and fun activities. Don't wait too long to register, the event fills up fast! $5 per child. Register by April 2, please. 

April 4 - IU's Another Round at The Met
Indiana University's premier all male vocal  a capella group, carrying on the tradition of Straight No Chaser, Another Round will take the stage at the Martinsville Entertainment Theatre and deliver a fresh take on vocal jazz - blending swing, pop, and soulful energy into an unforgettable performance. Music begins at 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 4; doors open one hour before showtime.

April 4 - Meet the Easter Bunny
The Martinsville Candy Kitchen will host the Easter Bunny on April 4, from 11 am to 1 pm. Stop in for a meet and greet with the big white bunny and don't forget your camera! Stock up on tasty Easter treats while you're there. 

April 4 - Meet the Author: Cynthia Jo Terrell
Enjoy a meet and greet opportunity with author Cynthia Jo Terrell on Saturday, April 4, from 1 to 3 pm at Fables and Fairy Tales bookshop in downtown Martinsville. She is a prolific writer of Christian fiction and the new Broken Chains series, a mystery and romance series, which will be available for purchase at the store during the event. 

April 4 - Morgantown Fire Dept. Easter Egg Hunt
The Morgantown Fire Department will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, beginning at 2 pm. This event will take place at the basketball courts located at Sycamore Street and Church Street. There will be four age groups and plenty of eggs! 

April 4 - Pioneer Park Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Pioneer Park in Mooresville will take place at 10 am on Saturday, April 4. Meet at the baseball diamonds. Ages 10 and under; bring your own basket. Egg hunters will be divided into four age groups - age three and younger, ages 4 and 5, ages 6 and 7, ages 8 to 10. Event sponsored by Carpenter Realtors. 

April 4 - Dirt Track Racing: USAC 410 Sprints/MMSA
Join Paragon Speedway for another great night of dirt track racing on Saturday, April 4. The night's feature will be the UASC 410 Sprints/MMSA. Pit Gates open at 3 pm; Grandstands open at 5 pm. Special event admission rates may apply. Pit passes available.  

April 4 - Torchlight Free Kids' Movie: The Lego Movie
Join Torchlight Cinema in Mooresville for the 2026 Kids' Movie Series. A different children's movie is featured each month. Doors open at 9:30 am, movie begins at 10 am. April's featured film is The Lego Movie. Admission is FREE with a donation of non-perishable food or personal hygiene item, or any free-will donation. Benefits Churches in Mission. 

April 4 - Eminence Harvest Festival Easter Egg Hunt
Eminence Harvest Festival's annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on April 4 at the Eminence Fire Barn, beginning at 8 am. Ages 0-12 welcome! Free.

April 5 - Live Music: The 78s 
Join Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company on April 5 for live music from The 78s. Indulge in your favorite locally-crafted beverages and don't forget about their amazing eatery menu as well! This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. Music starts at 2 pm.

April 9 - Open Mic & Pints Monrovia
The Main Street Grill in Monrovia invites you to enjoy a monthly Open Mic Night on the First Saturday of each month. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. All musicians, songwriters and singers are welcome to sign up to perform, or just come and enjoy the local talent!

April 9 - Studio PH.D Class: Peony Byzantine Bracelet
Studio PH.D is a series of jewelry classes offered by artist Pam Hurst at The Sterling Butterfly in downtown Martinsville. This Make & Take class will feature a Byzantine Chain Maille in lovely spring colors. Learn to entwine jump rings to make a beautiful pattern. Students will leave with one finished bracelet. This session has no prerequisites and no experience is necessary. All materials, necessary tools and instruction is included in the class fee. Class size is limited.

April 10 - 2nd Friday Open Studios Night
The Art Sanctuary of Indiana will host their monthly open studios night throughout the building on Friday, April 10. Come browse working artist studios and talk with the resident artists, take in the current exhibition in the main gallery, and more. Event begins at 6 pm. 

April 10 - Movie at the MET: Apollo 13
On the eve of the anniversary of one of NASA's most dramatic missions, join The MET in downtown Martinsville to experience Apollo 13 on the big screen!  Directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton, this gripping true story recounts the harrowing 1970 lunar mission that turned from a routine flight into a fight for survival. Movie begins at 7 pm on Friday, April 10; doors open one hour before showtime.

April 10-19 - Martinsville Arts Council presents Run For Your Wife
The Martinsville Arts Council presents Run For Your Wife, at the historic Depot Theatre in Martinsville. Performances will take place at The Depot Theatre on April 10-19 at 7:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 pm on Sundays. This comedy tells the story of a seemingly ordinary London taxi driver, who secretly has two wives in two different towns. His attempt to keep them apart falls apart and comic complications ensue when he inadvertently blows his over and things start to unravel. 

April 11 - Big Green Egg Cookout
Ace Hardware, located between Burton Lane and State Road 39, will host a Big Green Egg Cookout at their location on Saturday, April 5. These cookouts are a fundraiser for local non-profit organization Stability First and feature delicious brats, pork burgers, pulled port, grilled cheese with pork and hotdogs, along with chili, cooked on the iconic Big Green Eggs. They'll be serving beginning at 11 am, until 2 pm (unless they sell out!). 

April 11 - Meet the Author: Ryan Null
Enjoy a meet and greet opportunity with author Ryan Null on Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 3 pm at Fables and Fairy Tales bookshop in downtown Martinsville. Ryan is the author of The Flare Chronicles, which will be available for purchase at the store during the event. 

April 11 - The Chicago Experience at The MET
RD Productions and the Martinsville Entertainment Theatre present The Chicago Experience, a musical tribute to the legendary band Chicago, featuring your favorite Chicago tunes on Saturday, April 11. Doors open at 6:30 pm and music begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 day of show. Only 300 seats available, so don't delay!

April 11 - Morgan County Extension Homemakers Indoor Yard Sale
The Morgan County Extension Homemakers will host their annual indoor community yard sale at the Morgan County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 11. Browse through a variety of booths from 8 am to 3 pm. You never know what you'll discover! 

April 12 - Live Music: Walker & Tessmer 
Join Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company on Sunday, April 12 for live music from The Walker & Tessmer Duo. Indulge in your favorite locally-crafted beverages and don't forget about their amazing eatery menu as well! This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. Music starts at 2 pm.

April 12 - Tom Fiddlery Student Showcase at The MET
From first-time performers to seasoned players, this special showcase celebrates Tom Fiddlery music students ages 7 to 70 taking the stage to share what they’ve been learning and loving. You’ll hear everything from toe-tapping bluegrass and classic country favorites to rock anthems, pop hits, and beautiful classical pieces. Music begins at 2 pm on Sunday, April 12; doors open one hour before showtime.

April 15 - Studio PH.D Class: Basic Tool Skills
Join jewelry artist Pam Hurst for this Basic Tool Skills workshop! Class will meet at The Sterling Butterfly on Morgan Street, on April 15, beginning at 6 pm. Participants will learn how to use basic hand tools in class along with general studio procedures and safety. You will learn to use your pliers, hammers, and all the other new tools in the bench.  You will learn how to make proper loops, assemble several pieces together, how to open and close jump rings, how to texture, the proper way to file, drill and cold connect. Class size is limited. Cost is $100 per person. This class is one of five prerequisites required for more advanced courses.

April 17 - Dirt Track Racing - Super Late, Modifieds, Bombers
Join Paragon Speedway for another great night of dirt track racing on Saturday, April 17. The night's feature will include Super Late, Modifieds, and Bombers. Pit Gates open at 3 pm; Grandstands open at 5 pm. Special event admission rates may apply. Pit passes available.  

April 18 - Cabin Fever Swap Meet
Join the Morgan County Antique Machinery Association for their annual spring Cabin Fever Swap Meet at the Morgan County Fairgrounds on April 19. This is a rain or shine event. Indoor and outdoor spaces are available. Food vendors and restrooms will be available on site. 

April 18 - Meet the Author: DJ Lavely
Enjoy a meet and greet opportunity with author DJ Lavely on Saturday, April 18, from 1 to 3 pm at Fables and Fairy Tales bookshop in downtown Martinsville. DJ is the author of Returning To Ravens Ridge, which will be available for purchase at the store during the event. 

April 18 - 1977 Experience at The MET
RD Productions and the Martinsville Entertainment Theatre present 77 Experience, a musical tribute that takes you on a journey back in time to the year 1977, playing all the best hits from that legendary year on Saturday, April 18. Doors open at 6:30 pm and music begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 day of show. Only 300 seats available, so don't delay! 

April 18 - Open Mic Night & Pints 
The Main Street Grill in Martinsville invites you to enjoy a monthly Open Mic Night on the third Saturday of each month. Come out from 8 to 11 pm to join in the fun. All musicians, songwriters and singers are welcome to sign up to perform, or just come and enjoy the local talent!

April 24-26 - PUFFS, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic
Join Martinsville High School for a fun production of Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic! Performances will be at the Martinsville High School Auditorium, April 24-26 and tickets are only $10 per person and will be available online in advance or at the door. Show times are 7 pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday and 3 pm on Sunday. 

April 24 - VFW Post #1257 Steak n Fish Dinner
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1257 in Martinsville hosts a steak n fish dinner on the fourth Friday of each month at their location, 1000 Josephine Street. Meal choices are steak, baked potato, and salad for $20 per plate or fish, fries, and cole slaw for $15 per plate. This monthly event is open to the public and sometimes is followed by live music, from 8 to 10 pm.

April 25 - Independent Book Store Day
One day. Fifty states. Over a thousand bookstores! The national one-day party celebrates Independent Bookstores across the country online and in-store. Join Fables and Fairy Tales, downtown Martinsville's independent book store located right on Main Street, in celebrating Independent Book Store Day on April 25. This fun store has something for just about everyone from books to toys to gift items, and they have a very special Golden Ticket to hide on this special day! Also be sure to stop by The Rose Romance Book Store in Mooresville! 

April 25 - Junk in the Trunk Community Yard Sale
Mooresville Parks and Recreation will host their annual Junk in the Trunk Community Yard Sale on Saturday, April 25. The sale will take place at Pioneer Park, from 9 am to 1 pm, in the parking lot adjacent to the Aquatic Center. Admission for shoppers is free! 

April 25 - Indiana State Parks Platter Exhibit Preview Reception
The Art Sanctuary of Indiana will host a public preview event for the Indiana State Parks Platter Project. Several artists have volunteered their time and talent to paint platters of fine China representing all 25 Indiana State Parks. This project is an Indiana America 250 project, celebrating the nation's 250 year anniversary. Admission is free for this special preview event, which will be held in the main floor gallery, from 1 to 5 pm on Saturday, April 25. 

April 25 - Home Bank Christian Concert: Sidewalk Prophets & DownPour
Home Bank presents the final installment of their innaugural Christian Music Concert Series on April 25 at Hoosier Harvest Church! Tickets are $30 per person; music begins at 7 pm. VIP tickets include an in person Q&A with the Sidewalk Prophets. All ages show! 

April 26 - Run with the Squirrels
The Run With the Squirrels trail run will take place at Morgan-Monroe State Forest on Sunday, April 26, beginning at Noon. There will be race distances of 5K, 10K, 10 mile, and half marathon. This is a low cost, no frills race. Race t-shirt is NOT included in the base registration price, however if you would like to add a shirt, you may do so before April 10. 

April 26 - Spring Purse Bingo benefitting area seniors
Enjoy an afternoon of designer purse bingo on Sunday, April 26 at Jones Crossing Event Center in Mooresville! This fun Spring Purse Bingo will feature several games of purse bingo, extra games, bonus free space stickers, raffle prizes, a live auction, dessert bar, and a cash bar for beverages. Doors open at 12:30 pm and bingo begins at 2 pm. Tickets are $45 per person or $325 for a table (seats 8). 

April 30 - Morgan County History Center & Museum Annual Dinner
The Morgan County History Center and Museum will host their Annual Dinner and silent auction on Thursday, April 30 at River Valley Church. This year's theme is 250 Years and Counting. The event will begin at 6:30 pm and the cost of tickets is $30. Proceeds go to support programs of the Morgan County History Center and Museum.
