National Soup Month officially takes place in January, but we say that's not enough time to celebrate! From the first chilly winds of autumn through the New Year, and even into the unpredictable weeks of early spring, is there anything better at combating those less-than-warm days than a great bowl of soup? The weather may be cool, or even snowy, but a warm, comforting bowl of soup works wonders to get you cheered up, warmed up, and ready to tackle the rest of your day.
We've compiled a short list of Morgan County restaurants where you'll find some of the very best soups around:
21 North Eatery & Cellar - Martinsville
The menu always features their award-winning chili, as well as a soup of the day. Among their recent daily soups have been Guinness stew, cream of mushroom, heirloom potato, butternut squash as well as several others. Lunchtime often includes a bowl of soup along with your choice of salad or sandwich.
Blueberry Hill Pancake House - Mooresville
Featuring a soup of the day on their daily menu - sometimes two - this Mooresville eatery is always a great place to warm up. Favorites include cheesy tomato, clam chowder, chicken shell pasta and Italian wedding soups.
Bynum's Steakhouse - Martinsville
Sometimes, you just need a tried-and-true favorite. The soup at Bynum's isn't a different option each day... but it is tasty! Served up with most of their dinner menu options, this French Onion soup is a local favorite for a reason!
Come N Git It Diner - Martinsville

Honorable Mention:
Gather Around BBQ - Martinsville
An honorable mention because they do not have chili on their regular menu, so you've got to keep a close eye on their daily delectable specials posted on Facebook, but when they DO have it... yum! Previous features have included both smoked turkey chili and smoked brisket chili.
Jefferson Junction - Martinsville
For grab-and-go goodness, stop by Jefferson Junction. You never know exactly what they'll have but this time of year, it almost always includes savory soups to keep you warmed up for your day, plus desserts and snacks.
