As we find ourselves a full month into the New Year, we remember that this time of year can be rather unpredictable in Indiana... it could be frigid cold and icy, or almost spring-like. That means last minute adventures can be found just by going outdoors - hit up "Park Hill" at Jimmy Nash Park for a fun slide down when it's snowy, or head for one of the area's many trails for some fresh air on milder days. (We recommend sticking to the paved trails just after a thaw - trudging through inches of mud isn't good for the natural surface trails, and it's not much fun either.) Of course, you can't forget about fun events throughout Morgan County - things start ramping up again in February after a brief lull after the holidays. Here are our picks for February events to get on your calendar:

Live Music at Hoosier Que - Saturdays
Foxcliff Golf Club invites you to enjoy live music at Hoosier Que each Saturday evening. Music begins at 7 pm. Food and drink available on site. These are free performances with a different featured musician each week and all ages are welcome. 

Death at the Dance Murder Mystery - Feb. 1
Join Cedar Creek Winery & Eatery for an evening of murder mystery fun! The setting is a 1950s sock hop prom, so be sure to wear your best 50s gear, including poodle skirts, leather jacket and more. Tickets are $45 per person and include dinner. Tickets are limited, so reserve yours early! Adult beverages will be available, of course but this event is open to those under 21. 

Live Music: Shaun Proctor - Feb. 3
Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company in Martinsville presents an evening of casual music with musician Shaun Proctor in the Taproom with food available from the onsite Eatery.. Music begins at 6 pm on Saturday, February 3. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Local Valentine's Pop Up Market - Feb. 4 & 11
Sara's Goodies invites you to shop an intimate pop up market for Valentine's Day featuring a small number of carefully chosen artisans. Along with Sara's tasty creations and specialty coffee drinks, you'll also find wood and yarn creations, jewelry, bath and body products and even locally made dog treats! Stop in from 10 am to 12:30 pm on Feb. 4 and 11.

Morgan County Master Gardeners Seed Swap - Feb. 4
The Morgan County Master Gardeners invite you to join them for a seed swap event! It's time to start thinking about what to plant in your garden this spring. Come trade seeds in anticipation of the planting season from Noon to 4 pm on the lower level of the Morgan County Public Library in Martinsville. 

Live Music: Stone Monroe - Feb. 4
Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company in Martinsville invites you to a free casual performance with musician Stone Monroe in the Taproom with food available from the onsite Eatery. Music begins at 4 pm on Saturday, February 4. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Live Music: Rob Amrhein - Feb. 4
Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville will host an evening of live music with musician Rob Amrhein on Saturday, February 4. Be sure to give their flatbread pizzas a try! Music starts at 7 pm. 

Live Music: The 78s - Feb. 5
Cedar Creek Winery and Brewing Company in Martinsville presents an afternoon of casual music in the Taproom by The 78s. Music begins at 2 pm on Sunday, February 5. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Food available at the onsite Eatery. 

2nd Friday Open Studios Night - Feb. 10
The artists of the Art Sanctuary of Indiana in Martinsville welcome you to their studio spaces on the second Friday of each month. This month's Open Studios event takes place on February 10. Come see where resident artists create their work and enjoy an evening in Downtown Martinsville. Studios open from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. 

Art Class: Meadow with Bees on Canvas - Feb. 10
Join artist Sally Hedges of Atelier Sip n' Paint for a class that will have you thinking spring! You'll create your own colorful meadow full of wildflowers with cute bumblebees on canvas. This is an instructor-led course and all skill levels are welcome. Reserve your space early - class begins at 6 pm and the cost is $35 per person. All materials provided. 

Love Local in Downtown Martinsville - Feb. 11
Downtown Martinsville merchants and eateries will host a special Love Local event on Feb. 11 from 10 am to 5 pm. Stop in to find those perfect Valentine's Day gifts and share your love for local by supporting locally owned small businesses in the heart of Martinsville. Indulge in a visit to one of downtown's eateries or a visit to the day spa to make it the perfect day of fun! Be sure to check out the special dinner menu at The Peddler's Loft Cafe that evening - choose from three entrees, plus a salad, drink and dessert for $49.50 per person. 

Meet Artist Rhett Whittington - Feb. 11
Krypton Comics in downtown Martinsville invites you to come meet comic artist Rhett Whittington on Feb. 11, from 11 am to 4 pm. Stop by, browse the store, see Rhett's work and ask questions of the artist himself! 

Live Music: Brian Koning - Feb. 11
Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville will host an evening of live music with musician Brian Koning on Saturday, February 11. Be sure to give their flatbread pizzas a try! Music starts at 7 pm. 

Dessert Before Dinner - Feb. 11-14
The Martinsville Candy Kitchen's popular Dessert Before Dinner Valentine's Day event returns in 2023! Make your reservations or place your carryout order now. Seating is available February 11-14. This year's special dessert choices include Her Favorite Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with strawberry topping, a Toll House Cookie Bar Sundae and Red Hot Apple Pie! (We recommend you choose different options and share...)

Valentine's Brunch - Feb. 12
Forget about dinner... make plans for Valentine's Brunch! Perfect for a "Galentine's" gathering with the girls, or with your special someone, 21 North Eatery + Cellar will host their monthly brunch event on February 12, just in time for Valentine's. Reservations are recommended and brunch will be served from 11 am to 4 pm. Featured menu items include fresh biscuits with blackberry conserve, lobster quiche, steak frites, wagyu meatloaf manhattan and more. Kids menu available. Reservations recommended. 

Be My Valentine Dinner Menu at 21 North - Feb. 14
Chef Matt and his staff at 21 North Eatery & Cellar will present a very special fixed price Valentine's Day menu on February 14. Reservations are required. Enjoy limited choices on from a special event menu prepared just for Valentine's Day date night! The three course dinner will be $89 per person. 

Valentine's Day Dinner at Gather Around BBQ - Feb. 14
Enjoy a prime rib or smoked chicken Valentine's Day dinner with your sweetie at Gather Around BBQ in downtown Martinsville on February 14 with seatings at 5 and 7 pm. This reservation-only event feature your choice of soup or salad, a prime rib or smoked chicken entree with your choice of potato, your choice of second side and a dessert course! Cost is $45 per person. Live music on the patio by Elias Gomez.   

Valentine's Day Dinner at Paula June's - Feb. 14
Indulge in a special Valentine's Day meal at Paula June's featuring your choice of appetizer, salmon or pork entree, side and dessert. Seatings will be at 5 and 7 pm with live music all evening. Reserve your table early, before they're full!

Community Concert: Parallel Exit - Feb. 17
The Morgan County Community Concerts Association presents Parallel Exit on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 pm. This performance is part of the association's season of events and will take place at the Monrovia High School Auditorium. Parallel Exit is a fun vaudville style group with talented performers who will amaze you with dance, magic, hat tricks, slapstick comedy, circus tricks and of course, live music! Tickets are available online.   

The Addams Family - Feb. 17-20
Everyone loves that quirky, kooky Addams family! Come enjoy the Martinsville High School production of The Addams Family with performances on Feb. 17, 18 and 20 at 7 pm and Feb. 19 at 3 pm. Tickets are available online and the show will take place at the Martinsville High School Auditorium. Cost is $13 per person. 

Mardi Gras Party & Gumbo Cookoff - Feb. 18
Cedar Creek Winery & Brew Co will once again host their annual Mardi Gras Party and Gumbo Cookoff on February 18, beginning at 6 pm. Fees from Gumbo cookoff participants go to a local non-profit, so you can feel good about indulging! $10 per entry; $10 for samplings. Dress up for the occasion and come ready to party!

Live Music: Tay Bronson - Feb. 18
Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville will host an evening of live music with musician Tay Bronson on Saturday, February 18. Be sure to give their flatbread pizzas a try! Music starts at 7 pm. 

Mardi Gras on Main - Feb. 21
Brickhouse on Main will host a fun Mardi Gras on Main event on Feb. 21 beginning at 6 pm. Enjoy live music, Cajun style food including jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice and assorted King Cakes shipped directly from New Orleans! Cost is $50 per person and includes the buffet dinner, party favors, a photo op and live music. Get your tickets early, before they're gone! 

A Taste of France Special Menu - Feb. 24
Chef Matt is at is again... this time 21 North Eatery & Cellar invites you to join them on a culinary visit to discover the taste of France! On Friday, February 24, from 11 am to 9 pm, 21 North will serve up fine French cocktails and wines in addition to a very special all day menu featuring French specialties. Menu items include Coq au Vin, Escargot, Beef Bourgignon and more! Don't miss the Tart aux Citron for dessert! Reservations recommended. 

Bigfoot Presentation - Feb. 25
Ever wondered about all those Bigfoot rumors? The Morgan County Public Library will host a program by Leroy Nail of the Indiana Bigfoot Research Organization on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10 am. The presentation will cover information on the history and sightings of the legendary Bigfoot. 

Live Music: The Kevin Jones Project - Feb. 25
