Morgan County, Indiana is named for the American pioneer, soldier and politician Daniel Morgan (1735/1736 – July 6, 1802). Born in New Jersey to Welsh immigrants, he had an illustrious career serving in the Revolutionary War. He led a famous defeat of the British at CowPens, South Carolina. After the war, he served as a representative to Congress.
The annual dinner for the Morgan County History Center and Museum will be at 6:30 PM, Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at River Valley Church, 4295 Egbert Road, Martinsville.
We are pleased to announce the keynote speaker for the evening will be Mark Jaynes, Voice of the Indianapolis 500 and a Monrovia High School graduate. He will be accompanied by Steve Reeder, Monrovia Historian.
Tickets are $25 each and may be obtained at the museum beginning March 1st during open hours. Vickie Kivett may also be contacted for tickets at 765-341-9215. This is a very popular event and tickets sell out fast.
There will be a silent auction which begins when the doors open at 5:30 PM and ends at 8:00 PM. The funds that are raised help to pay for museum operation and exhibits. Mark your calendar for this special evening.
