The Feline Frolic 5K color run is the largest fundraiser in MCHS history. It is a non-competitive fun run, good for the whole family! You may go at any pace you desire, whether you are using the Frolic as a race to train (you are more than welcome to time yourself!) or you can leisurely stroll through downtown Martinsville. While there will be multiple color stations, a 'no color powder* lane' is available at each of them. The 4th annual Feline Frolic will be held at 10 East Washington Street, Martinsville, IN on April 13, 2019 starting at 9:30 am. We look forward to celebrating how far our shelter has come with 200 to 300 of our closest friends! 100% of the proceeds are going to the Morgan County Humane Society and the Trap - Neuter - Return program of Morgan County that has fixed and vaccinated over 4,000 community cats in the first few years of its existence! Dogs are more than welcome to join the fun, ONLY if they are up to date on vaccinations, people and dog friendly, and leashed the entire time! Join us for music, dancing, food, great vendors and an amazing silent auction, and of course, come get colorful! You are saving lives!
9:30 - Check-in opens, silent auction begins
9:45 to 10:15 - Warm-up Zumba
10:30 - 5K begins
12:00 - Silent auction winners announced, closing remarks
What should I bring to the color run? Great question!
A change of clothes or a towel to leave in your car. The powder does not stain, but why risk it?
Color zone gear! AKA sunglasses and a bandana or something to cover your mouth. Volunteers are trained to aim at the torso but accidents happen when many runners go through the zone at once!
Fanny packs ARE IN! Bring a fanny pack so you can bring wet wipes, tissues, and a plastic bag to keep your phone and other valuables from getting a dose of color!
There will be no make-up date in the event of inclement weather. In the event of heavy winds or rain, the 5K will be held without color stations. If there are severe storms, the 5K will be cancelled, but shirts can still be picked up from 9:30 - 11:30.
* The color powder is made from non-toxic, totally safe corn starch! While you can ingest it, we do not recommend it! Safe for humans and animals.
