Here is your chance to study with world renowned artist Mariela Villasmil. Mariela is originally from Venezuela but now lives in Texas. She was commissioned by the Vatican to paint Pope John Paul II and was granted special permission to paint Mother Theresa from a special Vatican photo. She has traveled and taught all over the world and is coming to Martinsville to hold two seminars in different mediums. July 9 & 10 - Drawing Class
Students may do drawing with conventional pencil and supplies, or with colored pencils on wood. Supplies for colored pencils on wood are available on Mariela's Amazon page. Any supplies for drawing or colored pencils will also be welcome. Class size is limited to 10 students. Class begins at 9 am both days; 50% deposit required at registration.
July 11, 12 & 13 - Watercolor Class
Enjoy three days of class and fun while you learn the fundamentals of watercolors. You will learn the basic techniques used by Mariela. Different papers and how to mix just yellow, red and blue to make all the colors you need. A simple concept, using a limited palette of colors. Learn color harmony and let her to introduce you to color; how to mix and how to use it. Lots of individual attention and class demonstrations with step-by-step through the entire painting process. You will be amazed what you can do! Any watercolor supplies you may have are welcome. 246 or 300 lb watercolor paper is recommended to avoid pre-stretching. Class will begin at 9 am; 50% deposit required at registration.
