October means changing leaves (and weather), apple cider, walks on leaf-covered trails, spooky Halloween events and more to help your family create a month to remember. We're already seeing some very early signs of fall color in the area, and we expect peak color to hit in mid-to-late October this year. Plan your visit accordingly if you've got leaf-peeping plans. (Here are some suggestions for where to peep.)
Morgan County Farmers Market
Normally, the outdoor Farmers Market comes to a close at the end of September, but this year the Morgan County Farmers Market is extending their outdoor season until October 16. Catch them at the Main Connection in Martinsville on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. (Cuppa Jejo will be open for your caffeination needs as well!)
Live Trivia at Black Dog Brewing
Join the fun folks at Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville for a weekly round of live trivia! Test your knowledge and test a few of their locally crafted beverages as well. Food truck on site for dining. Trivia is zero contact - bring your own pencil and paper if you wish. Every Wednesday evening beginning at 6 pm.
Cruise-in on the Square
Come on out and see all the cool cars, motorcycles, trucks and more each Thursday evening through October. Bring your own cool ride to participate in the Cruise-in on the Square, or just enjoy those of other car owners. Begins at 5 pm. Plan to make an evening of it and enjoy dinner at a downtown eatery.
Fall Harvest Festival
Each Saturday in October, Maple Grove Market will host their Fall Harvest Festival with fun kids' activities, live music, pumpkins, demonstrations, hayrides and more. Admission is only $3 and kids age 3 and under are free. All activities are included with admission. Stop by between 11 am and 4 pm. Some activities may vary from week to week. (A Trunk or Treat will take place on Saturday, October 23 from 4-6 pm.)
Martinsville Pet Parade
On October 2, downtown Martinsville invites you to gather with your pet(s) on the courthouse square for the second-ever Martinsville Pet Parade. Pets and their owners will parade around the square and prizes will be given in four categories. Proceeds will benefit Morgan County pet rescue organizations.
Drink at the Creek: Hairbanger's Ball & The Big 80's
Get ready to rock on October 2 with the first Drink at the Creek concert of the month, featuring Hairbanger's Ball and The Big 80s. As always, there will be plenty of locally-crafted beverages available from Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery as well as food options on site. Music begins at 5 pm. Bring your own seating. This is the big anniversary celebration for Cedar Creek Winery. Congratulations to them on celebrating 11 years!
Anderson Orchard will once again host their kid-friendly version of Octoberfest, Kids Fest, featuring all the fun of the orchard itself plus food trucks, bounce houses, games, a double-bungee trampoline and more! Come join the fun on October 2-3.
Wheels for Veterans
Join the Mooresville Fraternal Order of the Eagles on October 3 for this annual car show featuring all types of vehicles. The fun starts at 9 am and awards are given at 2 pm. There will be refreshments on site, live music, door prizes, drawings and don't forget to cast your vote for People's Choice! Proceeds from this event benefit Morgan County veterans.
October Brunch at 21 North
Join Chef Matt Harakal and the rest of the 21 North Eatery and Cellar team for this month's featured Fall Brunch on Sunday, October 3 from 11 am to 2 pm. You know the menu will feature tasty seasonal dishes and locally sourced favorites. There are always drink specials and a fantastic dessert menu to round out the experience. Kids menu available; reservations recommended.
Morgan County Fall Foliage Festival
The Morgan County Fall Foliage Festival is an iconic fall tradition. Taking place this year on October 7-10, the festival will have a new (temporary) home at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, due to area road construction. Don't worry - the change of venue won't affect the fun! This classic fall festival will still feature carnival rides, tasty treats, games, activities and live entertainment! 2nd Friday Open Studios Night
October's monthly Open Studios Night at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana will feature the Fall Foliage Festival Art Show, which will also be on display throughout the month. Stop in and visit with resident artists on October 8 from 6 to 9 pm.
9th Annual Craft & Vendor Fair
Corinth Baptist Church in Martinsville will host their 9th Annual Craft and Vendor Fair on October 9 from 10 am to 2 pm. Lunch will be available on site from 11 am to 1 pm and vendors will offer a mix of fall and holiday decor, gift items and more.
Drink at the Creek: Pearl Jam Chicago & Without U2
Drink at the Creek is celebrating the 90s! On October 9, Pearl Jam Chicago and Without U2 will hit the stage at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery. As always, there will be plenty of locally crafted beverages available, as well as food options on site. Music begins at 5 pm. Bring your own seating.
Miss Myra and The Moonshiners
The Morgan County Community Concerts Association returns with a fun performance from Miss Myra and The Moonshiners on October 10. Tickets may be purchased online for the entire series or individual shows. This performance will take place at the Martinsville High School Auditorium.
This fun benefit concert will take place at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery on Sunday, October 10. The event will feature 6 performers, food truck fare and of course, locally-crafted beverages. Proceeds will benefit area animal rescue organizations.
Drink at the Creek: Ultimate King of Pop Live Experience & Groove Smash
Catch the Ultimate King of Pop Live Experience (Michael Jackson Tribute) as they take the Drink at the Creek stage along with Groove Smash on October 16. As always, there will be plenty off locally crafted beverages available from Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery as well as food options on site. Music begins at 5 pm. Bring your own seating.
Third Thursday Shop the Square Event
Join downtown Martinsville businesses for their monthly Shop the Square event on the Third Thursday of each month, this month on October 21. There are always great specials to be found in retail shops and it's a great excuse to come out and enjoy the Cruise in on the Square and dinner at a downtown eatery as well! This month's theme is Shopping Spooktacular!
Morgantown Fall Festival
Join several of Morgantown's small, independently-owned local businesses for a fun fall festival event on October 23. The event will feature several outdoor vendor booths, fun specials and more.
Habitat for Humanity Home Tour
Morgan County Habitat for Humanity will present their first Habitat Home Tour on October 23. The event will feature six area homes, the Brickhouse Loft and a fun area for vendor booths located on Jefferson Street. Come out to enjoy a beautiful fall day in downtown Martinsville and support a great cause as well!
Drink at the Creek: The Flying Toasters and The Brian Goins Trio
October 23 will be the final show of this year's Drink at the Creek Concert Series (don't worry - organizers are already working on next year and it will return bigger and better than ever!) Come out to see The Flying Toasters and The Brian Goins Trio, beginning at 5 pm. There will be plenty off locally crafted beverages available from Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery as well as food options on site. Bring your own seating.
Sammy Terry Live
See legendary performer Sammy Terry live at the Art Sanctuary, just in time for Halloween. The Art Sanctuary will host this event on Sunday, October 24 beginning at 6 pm. Concessions will be available and there is a meet and greet opportunity after the show. Tickets are limited.
Join the Mooresville Arts Partnership for a fun fall festival event on Saturday, October 30 from noon to 4 pm. The Mooresville Arts-a-palooza is fun for all ages! There will be a variety of arts activities activities to enjoy as well as live music, vendor booths, food trucks and more! Admission is free.
The Haunting of Waverly
Join Old Town Waverly Park for the third annual The Haunting of Waverly event featuring a trunk-or-treat, traditional arts demonstrations and more! The haunting takes place beginning at 5 pm on Saturday, October 30th.
Mooresville's annual Halloween tradition returns to Pioneer Park this year. Event takes place on Saturday, October 30, beginning at 2:30 pm.
