October means changing leaves (and weather), apple cider, walks on leaf-covered trails, spooky Halloween events and more to help your family create a month to remember. We're already seeing early fall color in the area, and we expect peak color to hit in mid-to-late October this year. Plan your visit accordingly if you've got leaf-peeping plans.
Morgan County Farmers Market
Normally, the outdoor Farmers Market comes to a close at the end of September, but this year the Morgan County Farmers Market is extending their outdoor season until October 17. Catch them at the Main Connection in Martinsville on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. (Cuppa Jejo will be open for your caffeination needs as well!)
Live Trivia at Black Dog Brewing
Join the fun folks at Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville for a weekly round of live trivia! Test your knowledge and test a few of their locally crafted beverages as well. Food truck on site for dining. Trivia is zero contact - bring your own pencil and paper if you wish. Every Wednesday evening beginning at 6 pm.
Cruise-in on the Square
Come on out and see all the cool cars, motorcycles, trucks and more each Thursday evening through October. Bring your own cool ride to participate in the Cruise-in on the Square, or just enjoy those of other car owners. Begins at 5 pm. Plan to make an evening of it and enjoy dinner at a downtown eatery.
Singo at Black Dog Brewing
What's Singo, you ask? Well it's music bingo, and it happens every Thursday evening at Black Dog Brewing Company in Mooresville! If that's not enough to get you there, it's also taco night featuring the Happy Taco Truck, from 4 to 8 pm. Singo begins at 6 pm.
Drink at the Creek: The Nauti Yachtys & Groove Smash
Get ready to rock on October 3 with the first Drink at the Creek concert of the month, featuring The Nauti Yachtys and Groove Smash! As always, there will be plenty off locally crafted beverages available from Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery as well as food options on site. Music begins at 5 pm. Bring your own seating and a mask for indoors; social distancing guidelines are in place.
Carnival of Cars: Midwest Edition
This brand new event promises to be loads of fun for the whole family! See a wide variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, motorcycles and more at the Carnival of Cars - even a few famous ones! We hear there will be a few cars from the movie The Fast and The Furious on hand, plus live music, magicians and more! The fun begins at 1 pm on Saturday, October 4. Admission is a free will donation; proceeds to benefit the Martinsville Youth Development Center.
2nd Friday Open Studios Night
October's monthly Open Studios Night at the Art Sanctuary of Indiana will feature a Fall Art Show, which will also be on display throughout the month. Stop in and visit with resident artists on October 9 from 6 to 9 pm.
Drink at the Creek: Resurrection & Fancy Sauce
Originally scheduled earlier in the spring, this show is always a crowd favorite on the Drink at the Creek schedule. On October 10, Resurrection and Fancy Sauce will hit the stage at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery. As always, there will be plenty off locally crafted beverages available, as well as food options on site. Music begins at 5 pm. Third Thursday Shop the Square Event
Join downtown Martinsville businesses for their monthly Shop the Square event on the Third Thursday of each month, this month on October 15. There are always great specials to be found in retail shops and it's a great excuse to come out and enjoy the Cruise in on the Square and dinner at a downtown eatery as well!
Drink at the Creek: Beatles vs Stones & 45 RPM
Are you Team Beatles or Team Rolling Stones? Catch Beatles vs Stones on the Drink at the Creek stage along with 45 RPM on October 17. 3rd Anniversary Bash
21 North Eatery and Cellar first opened their doors in downtown Martinsville in October, 2018. This year, they're celebrating with a big anniversary bash featuring a special menu featuring favorites from the original opening menu and some of today's favorites as well! Reservations are recommended.
Drink at the Creek: Hairbangers Ball & The Big 80s
October 24 will be the final show of this year's Drink at the Creek Concert Series (don't worry - organizers are already working on next year and it will return bigger and better than ever!) October Brunch at 21 North
Join Chef Matt Harakal and the rest of the 21 North Eatery and Cellar team for this month's featured Sunday Brunch on October 25 from 10 am to 2 pm. You know the menu will feature tasty seasonal dishes and locally sourced favorites. $5 drink specials and a fantastic dessert menu round out the experience. Kids menu available; reservations recommended.
Sammy Terry Live
See legendary performer Sammy Terry live at the Art Sanctuary, just in time for Halloween. The Art Sanctuary will host this event on Sunday, October 25 beginning at 6 pm. Concessions will be available and there is a meet and greet opportunity after the show. Tickets are limited.
YMCA Fun Run: Pioneer Park
Enjoy one last free fun run/walk event with the friendly folks from the Barbara B Jordan YMCA. This series of free runs will culminate on Oct. 28 at Highland Lakes Camp near Martinsville. Bring the whole family out to enjoy an evening run, beginning at 6 pm!
Trick or Treat Trail
Mooresville's annual Halloween tradition at Pioneer Park will look a little bit different this year with a Trick or Treat Trail replacing the Halloween Hike for one year only. The trail will be about half a mile and advanced registration is required. Register in 30-minute time slots to allow for social distancing. Participants must be age 12 and under - maximum of two adults per family. Registration begins Oct. 1 for Brown Township residents and Oct. 8 for non-residents. Event takes place on October 31, beginning at 2 pm.
The Haunting of Waverly
Join Old Town Waverly Park for the third annual The Haunting of Waverly event featuring a trunk-or-treat, traditional arts demonstrations and more! The haunting takes place beginning at 5 pm on Saturday, October 31st.
Mooresville Fire Department Safe Halloween
Join the Mooresville Fire Department for their annual Safe Halloween event. This year, to ensure safety for participants and volunteers, the event will feature drive thru trick or treating! Enter the Fire Station parking lot off of Spring Hill Court and exit east bound onto State Road 144. On your way around the building, a bag of candy will be given to each child in the vehicle.
Trick or Treat on the Square
Many of Martinsville's downtown businesses will be open for trick or treating on the courthouse square and the annual trunk-or-treat outside the courthouse is expected to proceed as well, with social distancing and other precautions. Downtown restaurants will be open for dinner as well, so bring your ghosts and goblins to Downtown Martinsville!
