July conjures up images of fireworks, lightning bugs, summer funlive music and outdoor dining. Don't forget to plan a visit to the great outdoors. Our calendar is filling up fast with summer activities, so be sure to get some of these fun events on your calendar to celebrate summer in Morgan County (and keep an eye out for Waldo!).

Where's Waldo!? 
Participate in this fun Where's Waldo themed passport program presented by Fables and Fairy Tales. Throughout the month of July, get your passport verified when you find Waldo at various locations in downtown Martinsville. Prizes are awarded when you find Waldo 10 times, or win even more by finding him 20 times! Choose to look a little several times throughout the month, or participate in this month's downtown shopping event and see how many times you can find Waldo in one evening.  

Morgan County Farmers Market
Join local growers and crafters twice each week for the Morgan County Farmers Market. The Market takes place on Tuesdays in Mooresville from 3 to 6 pm at the Friends Church and on Saturdays in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm at The Main Connection. 

Kids' Summer Movie Series
Mooresville Showtime Cinema will continue their Kids' Summer Music Series on Wednesdays through July 21. Admission for this series of fun, kid-friendly movies is 50 cents per person or canned goods that will be donated to Churches in Mission. An especially good option on super-hot or rainy summer days, this is always a crowd pleaser for the kids! 

Cruise in on the Square
Each week, on Thursdays beginning at 5 pm, you'll see some of the coolest cars, trucks and even motorcycles in the region at the Cruise-in on the Square as they cruise in to downtown Martinsville and set up around the historic courthouse square. This month, there's also live music nearby at the lawn adjacent to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana on select Thursdays. Come out and enjoy an evening in downtown Martinsville with great food, cool cars and live music!

Dirt Track Racing
On most weekends, you'll find exciting racing action at the Paragon Speedway, a historic dirt track oval near Paragon, Indiana. Admission prices are affordable and kids are free with paid adult admission. Special event pricing in effect for select events. Don't miss their fireworks show after racing on July 1! **The Chuck Amati 68 Laps event has been rescheduled for July 9.** See the event calendar for specific dates. 

Fireworks
You can't go wrong with fireworks on the Fourth of July! Choose from fireworks displays (and live music) launched from Pioneer Park in Mooresville or Jimmy Nash City Park in Martinville, both on the 4th. (for an earlier show, Paragon Speedway will present a fireworks show after racing on July 1 and the Madison Township Freedom Celebration will take place on the 3rd.) Both July 4 fireworks shows are set to begin at dusk. Live music begins earlier in the day at both venues. See our Independence Day blog post or Calendar of Events for more details. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs (and maybe some bug spray, too)!

4th of July Parade
Join the Indiana Spirit of '45 for a fun, old fashioned Independence Day Parade! The parade will step off at 10 am on Saturday, July 3, beginning at John R Wooden Middle School. All are welcome to participate. 

Live Music: The 78s
Enjoy a casual, acoustic performance from the popular duo The 78s at Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery. Music will begin at July 4 at 2 pm. This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. Bring your own seating.

Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert Series: 45 RPM
Come out to downtown Martinsville on Thursday, July 8 for an evening of live music, shopping, dining and fun! Live music from the band 45 RPM will begin at 7 pm, giving you time to hit a locally owned shop or boutique and/or grab some dinner from an outdoor eatery (order to go to enjoy your meal outdoors at the concert). This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Beer and wine from Cedar Creek Winery and Brew Co will be available on site. Bring your own seating.

Open Studios Night
Join the resident artists at The Art Sanctuary for their monthly Open Studios Night event on July 9. The event features more than a dozen local artists in their studio spaces to talk with you about their work and preferred techniques. Stop by between 6 and 9 pm. 

Artie Fest
This fun, annual Martinsville festival returns in full force this year on July 9 and 10 with a new location at the Morgan County Fairgrounds due to increased downtown traffic with the current SR 37/I-69 closure. Don't worry - Artie Fest is bringing all the fun along with them to the Fairgrounds. Catch Colton Chapman live in concert on Friday evening along the the Direct Sales Vendor Market, then enjoy a day full of fun on Saturday, starting with a 5K and continuing with the craft fair, car show, food vendors, cornhole tournament, trike race, kids' activities and live music throughout the day! The event will culminate at dusk with the Artie Fest movie featuring Disney's Lilo & Stitch. 

Mooresville Summer Concert Series: Stella Luna and the Satellites
Enjoy live music at beautiful Pioneer Park on July 9 from popular band Stella Luna and the Satellites. Music will begin at 7 pm. Bring your own seating. Food and beverages will be available on site, including local beer and wine. This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. 

Drink at the Creek Concert: Toy Factory & The Dynamics
Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery presents the next installment of the Drink at the Creek Concert Series on July 10. Music will begin at 5 pm featuring Toy Factory and The Dynamics. This is an all-ages show and kids age 12 and under are free. Bring your own seating. Food and beverages available onsite. 

July Brunch at 21 North Eatery + Cellar
Make your reservations early to join 21 North Eatery + Cellar for a July Brunch on July 11 from 11 am to 3 pm. The special menu will be full of fabulous flavors created by Chef Matt. From Duck Benedict to Wagyu Meatloaf Manhattan to Chicken Florentine Crepes, these are tasty dishes you won't find served anywhere else! 

Live Music: The Sax Guy
Enjoy a casual live music performance from The Sax Guy on July 11 at beautiful Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery. Music will begin at 2 pm. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Bring your own seating.

The Mooresville Summer Concert Series continues on July 16 at beautiful Pioneer Park with live music from regional favorites Bigg Country! Music begins at 7 pm. As always, this is a free show and all ages are welcome. There will be food and locally crafted adult beverages on site. Bring your own seating and settle in to enjoy the evening. 

Downtown Mooresville Street Fair
Come on out to downtown Mooresville on Saturday, July 17 to enjoy the second of three fun summer Downtown Street Fair events! Put together by The Farmhouse Market, along with other downtown merchants, these fun events feature a wide variety of vendors, food, music and activities. Come see what's happening this month in downtown Mooresville! 

Live Music: Tim Neuman
Enjoy a casual live music performance from Tim Neuman on July 18 at beautiful Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery. Music will begin at 4 pm. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Bring your own seating. 

Outdoor Shakespeare Performance: Much Ado About Nothing
The Monrovia Branch of the Morgan County Public Library is excited to welcome the Brown Box Theater Project out of Massachusetts on the evening of July 22. Come out an enjoy a free, outdoor, live production of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Performance will begin at 8 pm. No tickets needed; all ages welcome. Bring your own seating; food vendors will be available on site. 

Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert Series: Jambox
The Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert Series continues on Thursday, July 22 when popular band Jambox will take the stage. Music begins at 7 pm, giving you time to order up dinner at your favorite outdoor eatery (get it to go and eat it outdoors at the concert!) or hit your favorite shop before the show. Bring your own seating. This is a free performance and all ages are welcome. 

Mooresville Summer Concert Series: Tastes Like Chicken
The Mooresville Summer Concert Series will welcome popular regional favorite Tastes Like Chicken on Friday, July 23 at beautiful Pioneer Park. Music begins at 7 pm. Food and locally crafted adult beverages will be available on site. Please bring your own seating. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. 

Dust Bowl 100 Gravel Bike Race
The tiny town of Eminence will welcome bicyclists from around Indiana and beyond for the Dust Bowl 100 Gravel Bike Race on Saturday, July 24. That's right, 100 miles of bicycling on some of the finest gravel roads in Indiana! Participants will cross several historic bridges and roll through scenic vistas in Morgan and Putnam Counties. The number of participants is limited and pre-registration is a must. 

Live Music Amid the Lavender
Willowfield Lavender Farm will welcome visitors to the lavender fields for a live musical performance on Saturday, July 24. Performer is still to be announced, but we can promise you that this will be a fun and unforgettable experience. Bring your own seating and relax amid the lavender; all ages are welcome. 

3rd Thursday on the Square: Where's Waldo?
This month's 3rd Thursday on the Square shopping event in downtown Martinsville will take place on on Thursday, July 15 and will feature everyone's favorite red-and-white sweater-wearing book character! In conjunction with the month-long Where's Waldo event at Fables and Fairy Tales, downtown merchants invite you to come out for an evening of hunting for Waldo throughout the downtown area. Find him inside downtown businesses and get your passport marked. If you find Waldo 10+ times, you can earn fun prizes! Be sure to check out the cool cars at the Cruise-in on the Square while you're downtown!

Drink at the Creek Concert: Henry Lee Summer & Mellencougar
Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery presents the next installment of the Drink at the Creek Concert Series on July 24. Music will begin at 5 pm featuring Henry Lee Summer and John Mellencamp tribute band Mellencougar. This is an all-ages show and kids age 12 and under are free. Bring your own seating. Food and beverages available onsite. 

Live Music: Phil Pierle
Join Cedar Creek Winery, Brew Co and Distillery for a casual live music performance from Pil Pierle. Music will begin at 2 pm on Sunday, July 25. This is a free show and all ages are welcome. Bring your own seating. 

YMCA Fun Run Series
Get outside and join the Barbara B Jordan YMCA for the July installment of their 5K Family Fun Run Series! On the final Wednesday of each month - July 28 this month - you can meet up at one of Morgan County's scenic parks for a fun and free 5K event beginning at 6 pm. July's run will take place at Burkhart Creek Park near Paragon. All ages are welcome. 

Morgan County Fair
The Morgan County Fair returns this year, July 30 through August 6. Come out to the Morgan County Fairgrounds and enjoy the animals, exhibits, performances, carnival rides and, of course, the fair food! As always, there will be live music on the free stage each evening as well as merchant booths, 4-H projects and other events.

Camp Fritsche Fundraiser & Scavenger Hunt
On July 31 at Old Town Waverly Park, join Camp Fritsche for their annual fundraising event, which includes a fun and challenging competitive scavenger hunt. Build your team carefully - up to four people per team will compete for fun prizes by completing set activities, collecting items, locating items and solving clues. One member of each team must be at least 18 years of age and the team must have a phone with camera and sharing capabilities to submit proof of finds to the judges. Not up for a scavenger hunt yourself? Come out to support the participating teams and enjoy additional activities at the park, including tethered hot air balloon rides, a silent auction, food vendors, live music and more!
