July conjures up images of fireworks, lightning bugs, summer funlive music and outdoor dining. Don't forget to plan a visit to the great outdoors. Our calendar is filling up fast with summer activities, so be sure to get some of these fun events on your calendar to celebrate summer in Morgan County.

Where's Waldo!? 
Participate in this fun Where's Waldo themed passport program presented by Fables and Fairy Tales. Throughout the month of July, get your passport verified when you find Waldo at various locations in downtown Martinsville. Prizes are awarded when you find Waldo 10 times, or win even more by finding him 20 times! Choose to look a little several times throughout the month, or participate in this month's downtown shopping event and see how many times you can find Waldo in one evening. A celebration for participants will planned in August.   

Morgan County Farmers Market
Join local growers and crafters twice each week for the Morgan County Farmers Market. The Market takes place on Tuesdays in Mooresville from 3 to 6 pm at the Friends Church and on Saturdays in Martinsville from 9 am to 1 pm at The Main Connection. 

Cruise in on the Square
Each week, on Thursdays beginning at 5 pm, you'll see some of the coolest cars, trucks and even motorcycles in the region as they cruise in to downtown Martinsville and set up around the historic courthouse square. This month, there's also live music nearby at the lawn adjacent to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana. Come out and enjoy an evening in downtown Martinsville with great food, cool cars and live music!

Dirt Track Racing
On most weekends, you'll find exciting racing action at the Paragon Speedway, a historic dirt track oval near Paragon, Indiana. Admission prices are affordable and kids are free with paid adult admission. Special event pricing in effect for select events. See the event calendar for specific dates. 

CIBA Cemetery Tour
Bicyclists will delight in this fun annual cemetery tour of Morgan County on July 4. Sag stops are at area cemeteries and there are three route lengths to accommodate all levels. The ride is free and routes range from flat to rolling hills. Riders will leave from the Morgan County Courthouse at 8 am.

4th of July Parade
Join the Indiana Spirit of '45 for a fun, old fashioned Independence Day Parade! The parade will step off at 10 am beginning at John R Wooden Middle School. First responders, health care workers, and 2020 graduates will be honored and all are welcome to participate. 

Fireworks
You can't go wrong with fireworks on the Fourth of July! Choose from fireworks displays launched from Pioneer Park in Mooresville (no spectators inside the park), Jimmy Nash Park in Martinsville (foot traffic only inside the park). Both fireworks shows are set to begin at dark. For something to do earlier in the day, check out the live music on the lawn adjacent to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana in downtown Martinsville. Music from seven well known regional bands will begin at 3 pm and there will be food vendors on site. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs (and maybe some bug spray, too)!

Barn Sale
Venture out to Low Gap Road for a Barn Sale featuring creations from Art Work by Elizabeth plus lots of other treasures including architectural salvage, vintage windows, slate roof tiles, folk art and more. The sale will be 10 am to 2 pm on July 6 and 7 at the barn, located at 3963 Low Gap Road, just outside of Martinsville. 

Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert: Country Summer
The annual Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert series kicks off this year on July 9 with the band Country Summer. As always, these concerts are free and open to the public, taking place on the lawn adjacent to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana at the corner of Jefferson and Pike Streets, just one block from the courthouse square. Food vendors will be on site (including wine and beer options). Bring your own seating. All ages welcome.

Open Studios Night
Join the resident artists at The Art Sanctuary for their monthly Open Studios Night event on July 10. The event features more than a dozen local artists in their studio spaces to talk with you about their work and preferred techniques. There is almost always a featured exhibit in the main gallery and often you'll find live music courtesy of an Open Mic Night event in the lower gallery. Stop by between 6 and 9 pm. 

Mooresville Summer Concert: BIGG COUNTRY & Main Street Band
The annual Bicentennial Park Concert Series in Mooresville is moving to Pioneer Park this year to allow more space for social distancing. As always, these concerts are free and open to the public. Music begins at 7:30. The series kicks off this year with two great bands - BIGG COUNTRY and the Main Street Band, both based locally. Bring your own seating (and bug spray). All ages welcome.

Living History Day at Waverly Park
Step back in time on July 11 for the monthly Living History Day at Old Town Waverly Park! This fun event brings families together with artisans who present demonstrations of several traditional arts and crafts. Participating artisans may vary from month to month, but the blacksmith forge is always open, and other demonstrations may include tinsmithing, weaving, crochet, porcelain painting, woodworking, plein aire painting and more! While you're there, check out the White River Greenway Trail!

Drink at the Creek: Jambox & Toy Factory

The summer concert series at Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery returns a little later than originally planned this year, kicking off on July 11 with Jambox and Toy Factory. Music starts at 5 pm. Admission is $10 per person and kids age 12 and under are free. Bring your own seating. There is no parking fee and overflow parking with shuttle service is available at nearby Hoosier Harvest Church. Food vendors will be on site and locally crafted beverages will be available from Cedar Creek. 

Live Music: Tim Neuman
Join Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery for casual, free live music performances on select weekends throughout the year. On July 12, catch Tim Neuman on stage beginning at 4 pm. Bring your own seating; all ages are welcome.

Downtown Shopping Event: Where's Waldo?
This month's downtown Martinsville shopping event on Thursday, July 16 will feature everyone's favorite red-and-white sweater-wearing book character! In conjunction with the month-long Where's Waldo event at Fables and Fairy Tales, downtown merchants invite you to come out for an evening of hunting for Waldo throughout the downtown area. Find him inside downtown businesses and get your passport marked. If you find Waldo 10+ times, you can earn fun prizes! Be sure to check out the cool cars at the Cruise in on the Square while you're downtown!

Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert: The Beepline
The annual Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert series continues on July 16 with The Beepline taking the stage. Classes with Internationally Known Artist Mariela Villasmil
Join world renowned artist Mariela Villasmil at The Art Sanctuary for a two-day drawing class or a three-day watercolor class (or both!) July 17-21. Register early, as class size is limited to 10 students per class. Mariela is originally from Venezuela, but now lives in Texas. This is a unique opportunity to earn from a world-class artist.

Mooresville Summer Concert: Blue River Band & Phil Pierle Trio

Midsummer Outdoor Market
Join Full Circle Shop in Mooresville for a fun outdoor shopping event, the Midsummer Outdoor Market! Taking place on July 25, this fun event will feature a variety of booths from crafters, artisans, furniture and antique dealers and more. Come browse for treasures from 11 am to 5 pm. There will also be food trucks, a bounce house and face painters on site for the kids! 

Live Music: Phil Pierle
Join Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery for casual, free live music performances on select weekends throughout the year. On July 26, catch Phil Pierle on stage beginning at 4 pm. Bring your own seating; all ages are welcome.

YMCA Fun Run: Old Town Waverly Park
Join the Barbara B Jordan YMCA for these fun, informal and FREE 5K fun runs throughout the summer. Each month, meet up at a different Morgan County Park or scenic area for some outdoor exercise. This month, meet at Old Town Waverly Park on July 29, where you'll enjoy a run (or walk) along the White River Greenway Trail, beginning at 6 pm.  

Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert: Rosco & The Hammers
The annual Downtown Martinsville Summer Concert series continues on July 30 with Rosco and The Hammers taking the stage. As always, these concerts are free and open to the public, taking place on the lawn adjacent to the Art Sanctuary of Indiana at the corner of Jefferson and Pike Streets, just one block from the courthouse square. Food vendors will be on site (including wine and beer options). Bring your own seating. All ages welcome.

Trace Adkins in Concert
On July 31, catch country music superstar Trace Adkins live in concert at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. Opening acts will be BIGG COUNTRY, Split Rail and Jake Dodds, beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are available online. There will be three seating areas with pricing ranging from $25 per person to $100 per person. Bring your own seating. Extend your musical enjoyment by also planning to attend the August 1st concert featuring four amazing rock tribute bands with music beginning at 5 pm. Tickets for that show are $20 per person in advance.
